This is the first I’m hearing of Aurora, that seems promising. I’m guessing you’d use FDroid for anything that is available there but use Aurora for anything that is only on the Play Store?

Thoughts on pros and cons? Do you still install apps through the play store or are you using FDroid?

Oh yeah, it’s perfect for corporate America. If fits the bill perfectly for abuse through corporate consolidation:
These two things together are the holy grail of American capitalism because it means if a handful of companies control all the daycares then they can screw over both labor and consumers through corporate consolidation.
We know the government will never break up the conglomerates, so that leaves unions to hold the ghouls accountable in which case they just close any daycare that unionizes, look for scabs, or try to replace humans with AI.

I think at least one class a day for some sort of technology literacy is important. Maybe some typing courses or web development or coding courses or graphic design or even how to create chat bots…
But as much as I’m into tech I agree that kids shouldn’t be staring at screens all day.
This also works for your friends who have kids
Warm white 2700-3000k is fine for bedrooms Soft white 3500k is better for awake spaces that aren’t task spaces White/Daylight 5000k+ is for getting things done, I use them in the garage, the basement, and for some of the kitchen lights
I used to hate integrated LED fixtures, but I put in under-cabinet lighting that can switch color temp so that is nice because I can set it to daylight during meal prep and warm during eating.
That sounds pretty nice, I have some devices compatible with Matter, but mostly I have Amazon plugs right now. I guess it’s not too late to start switching to Zigbee plugs.
I’ll probably start by just disabling the microphone on the Alexa devices and just control devices through my phone’s assistant or the app, so at least it’s not listening to me all the time.

She seems like the kind of person who isn’t capable of reading a paragraph so would just tune out when she sees one. (Yes, many of these people have somehow graduated highschool AND college and have made it into the workplace!)
I have gotten so used to this it’s going to be tough when I inevitably excise Alexa from my life due to surveillance capitalism.

A one day general strike across the US would be an amazing achievement. If we can pull that off it’s a great place to start. Would a more sustained effort have to be planned? Probably, but being able to achieve this shows that the people are serious about this and the threat of a more sustained strike can be taken seriously.
I want one so that it explains why I’m driving slow. Maybe tailgaters would exhibit a little less road rage.
Also, I want it to flip around to say “Baby is NOT on board” so when I want to drive like an asshole they know I mean business.
Good source of fiber and adhesives!

This is like the tech broligarchs using references to Tolkien while propping up a fascist regime and trying to forge one AGI to rule us all.

These employees did exercise their right to unionize, but there’s no way to force employers to keep the union. A union just means that you can bargain collectively, and it should theoretically protect employees because what kind of scummy employer wants to fire ALL their employees, right? Turns out Ubisoft IS that scummy.

Any kind of spray you have lying around should make their wings too laden to fly. Simple Green, Windex, Axe Body Spray, etc. Could probably just be a spray bottle with water too.
Then you can do what you will with them.
Wasn’t the large fries always a ripoff? I think someone showed once that it’s only marginally more fries than a small fry.

Worked out great for the traitors, they all got pardoned and got re-elected.

This meeting most likely benefits Trump more than Mamdani. This gives Trump an opportunity to sweep the vile racism of the final weeks of the campaign under the rug, and lets him appear to be concerned about the working class and affordability.
I’m sure Mamdani and his team understood this but are willing to butter him up so that Trump doesn’t send ICE and the national guard into NYC.
It’s more that local authorities are offering incentives to big tech to bring in those data centers, ostensibly because they think it will benefit the area, but more likely because it is benefitting the local authorities personally through kickbacks or campaign donations.
