When you deny someone an abortion, you’re denying them healthcare.

When a parent denies their underage child, with a brain that is still developing, hard drugs I think that is appropriate parenting. Taking hard drugs probably has limited social or medical benefit, if any.

So when a parent denies their underage child drugs they are essentially protecting them (from themselves) whereas if they deny an abortion they are taking away a future, if you consider the fully formed person autonomous.

Not really comparable if you scratch beyond the surface.

I think there are layers to this. Even irl people will say one thing and end up doing something else. Often with good intentions or at least not nefarious ones. I think people online sometimes take a creative license, which is fine.

Fediverse being small, I’ve started to recognize some posters by their background stories. If those are online characters or not, I’ll never know. I wonder if it matters? Now, as it pertains to bots passing as people or gofundme scams I get a little annoyed. I haven’t seen too much of that here, but it was disgusting on Reddit/imgur, and getting worse.

I tend to take online interactions with a grain of salt. I trust my wow guild a bit, but like…I know their dog’s names and stuff.

I retained enough to provide basic information to my ESL kiddos/parents, at least in Spanish. Use it or lose it, I really think.

This is a really good point. Avoiding being a target is hard for some people. Masking can be exhausting for them and it’s unfair. I want their environment to be more hospitable somehow.

Not anything identifying, really. My best practice is to never talk about work with those outside of the need to know group. It goes in the work box, it stays there. Unless I had a particularly traumatic day. I couldn’t hide the limp or the black eye I had a few days ago. So that is an example of the most I will share.

I lived with a cat, her name was Lilith. I just called her “cat” or “kitty, meoooowwww” and she came to those.

I am fairly open, for a couple of reasons. I’m older now, and I have a lot of lived experience and education. Secondly, I learned a long time ago that silence can enable. I have nothing to lose by sharing my story in particular. So in certain communities I am open about difficult topics.
