1·1 month agoWhat’s a joke? This post, or the towel in question?
Because I go on Lemmy for the news and for uplifting discussion. Many of my beliefs, such as kindness, compassion, and personal growth do not cause a stir here. However if I discuss some of my other beliefs, I will generally be down voted because the overwhelming majority of users here disagree with me. My goal when using Lemmy is to have constructive conversation, not contention. I want everyone to feel welcome, and in return, I want to feel welcome myself. Hope this gives you some context for my earlier “ignorant statement.” Happy Thanksgiving!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People who rely on their phones/computers to tell time probably forgot or didn't realize that a Daylight Saving Time-Change even happened, some might've forgotten that DST existed at all.English
6·2 months agoMaybe because the twice yearly time change results in loss of productivity, and is bad for mental health?
Its a nosism, but its not a royal we because it is refering to both the speaker and the cat. I believe the Wikipedia page refers to this usage as the patronizing we.

2·3 months agoFor me, the lockdown mode is on the shutdown menu that you get of you hold the lock button for a few seconds. (I have stock android on Pixel 7). Alyernatively, I could hold the power button surreptitiously until the phone reboots, requiring my PIN to unlock it.

1·5 months agoWell, I certainly didn’t like you stereotyping me based on how my writing “sounds”. In this context, I feel like mentioning the reporters gender is relevant because of the sexist culture in some parts of the middle east.

11·5 months agoIts still a valuable part of a 3-2-1 rule based backup plan: 3 different copies, on 2 different media types, with 1 copy offsite. I don’t think they were recommending storing your only copy in the cloud afaik
Quid? Is that short for squid? Or is it a legal term?

That’s odd, I seem to be replying to a note you left on this post.
