I would not get your hopes up. The last I heard the rumor said that you would only be able to side
load on an iPhone if it was activated on a European carrier
Yeah we’ll see how far it goes. I’m in Europe so if I do end up switching to iPhone I’d be able to benefit from it. But then who knows what other limitation they implement lol.
That said it seems like other non-EU countries are going to follow suit so maybe it will go further than just the EU even if not immediately, like a domino effect. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking haha.
Hopefully sideloading will come soon and open up some of the potential on iOS (I say this as an android user)

Fair enough. I’m just saying from apple I’d expect nothing more but barely passing the definition malicious compliance.
