I have looked everywhere (so it’s probably in front of my face). Where are saved posts? Are they in my instance, in lemmy? How can I find them?

Profile -> posts -> saved
You can even put them on the Floating Action Button for quick access:
You can also enable the Show Actions setting to be shown in your bottom navigation bar (if you use it), then you can access your Saved posts and comments from there.
Settings shortcut: Experimental > Show actions
