California officials are warning foragers after an outbreak of poisoning linked to wild mushrooms that has killed one adult and caused severe liver damage in several patients, including children.

And no, apps are not skillful enough to ID gilled mushrooms to be safe eating them

      Yeah, people who eat a poisonous Amanita take a few days to die of liver failure and their accounts pretty uniformly describe the deadly ones as tasty.
