How much do you guys struggle with eye contact?

I read that it’s common with ADHD. so I’m just wondering how much y’all struggle with it?

I’m diagnosed with ASD, and might be getting an ADHD diagnosis in a few weeks. But I’m unsure if I have ASD. My support worker said she doesn’t see much ASD in me, but my psychologist and a couple of psychiatrists have said i am ASD.

Anyway, how much do y’all struggle with eye contact? I struggle with it with new people, but sometimes, after some time, I am able to look at them (not in the eye usually - I look at their nose or chin or whatever). Before some time has passed, I look at the floor or whatever. Anyone else?

Diagnosed ADHD when it was the fad; but, for many reasons, i dont disagree that it was correct.

Daily use of eye avoidance is something I’ve noticed being stronger lately around holidays or stressful situations. More to avoid direct contact vs. casual. It feels very much like avoiding phone calls while responding to emails and sms.

I want to be able to look at them but everything in me says that they dont deserve the spoons it takes to process that information.

Mind you this is coworkers, employers, and the general public. I give cashiers eye contact because they are paid to do interactions and probably hate being there as much as i do.

A side note: if you are unsure about a diagnosis maybe ask the diagnoser to explain their process and your results? More information from the source might be as valuable as a re-diagnosis.
