I’m talking more along the lines of, having simulator games where you work in a supermarket and you get to cause as much mayhem as possible. Not in terms of just simply killing, but more like, being a very disgruntled worker in a very annoyingly noisy environment with shitty customers. That game doesn’t exist to me and I wish it would.

Instead, we get more simulator games where you’re at the service of the people. That’s going backwards, if you ask me.

Also, I don’t remember asking for armchair psychologists to come here and start dropping unasked thoughts about how to best relieve stress. Check those at the door.

My feeling, that I’ve learned after many years of doing it wrong, is that ‘taking out’ your stress with violent or aggressive acts, even virtual ones, isn’t a healthy way to deal with it. It reinforces it rather than releasing it. Calming exercises, deep breathing and letting stress go is a much more useful way to deal with it.

In that vein, I recommend Tiny Glade for stress relief. Or any so called ‘cosy’ game.

      No, going to disagree here.

We’ve had this discussion many times over about what violent video games does with people. We’ve had it in the form of what the media decides to twist and falsely blame from the actions the individual does when there are other things at play.

Broken people are the ones who take the violence out from the digital realm of video games and apply it to real world. They are the ones who can’t manage their stress and anger levels regardless playing a game or handling a problem in person.

you can be wrong all you like but we have the data. the claim isn’t that violent videogames cause violence, it’s that venting your aggression breeds further aggression. most people don’t play violent video games because they need an outlet for their aggression and violence!! if that is something you experience, it’s not something fucking video games can help you with!! you need to actually work on your shit.

Data is a two way street. While we have data about the claims against violent video games causing violence, we also have data that contradicts the statement that venting aggression breeds further aggression.

You’re not going to come to me with this bullshit without any sources to cite your claims, then turn around and tell me to actually work on my shit.

You can fuck off. I think dumbasses like you, are also what contributes to making people violent, is knowing how utterly stupid people like you are.

I’m not saying violent video games make you violent. I’m saying if you use those things, and it’s not just video games - punching a pillow, for example - as a way to deal with stress, then that’s going to become a habitual response to stressful situations.

I’m not sure I can agree with that. There are many people that would start shouting at people they love, breaking things etc. Having them put on some boxing gloves and get a good workout on a boxing bag is definitely healthier. Getting to the root of the problem and treating that is obviously the better way, but not everyone can do that.

That said, a video game seems a bit pointless for venting.

So now you’re just assuming everyone is a psychopath. Great. Wonderful.

Look, the best way to circumvent in handling stress is if there is people to help others differentiate reality and fantasy, teach them what right or wrong is. It all falls apart when someone does not get any of those things and they take their undisciplined and wild way of handling issues in wrong manners.

Normal people can tell a difference that ripping paper - it’s OKAY. Ripping people - NOT OKAY. Ripping virtual people that won’t criminalize you - it’s OKAY. Murdering actual people in real time - NOT OKAY.

You’re just not fun, dude. If you keep denying people outlets of their stress and basically just telling them to take it up the ass dry and do things that actually wouldn’t lower their stress levels, then you’re fueling the problem in ways you’re not fully understanding.

The fucking Yoga-like way in handling stress isn’t the answer to everything either.

You sound like a major asshole in a bad way, dude. You’re purposely missing the point and coming back at people aggressively when it’s absolutely not warranted. It sounds like you need more than just a game to help you get by
