These fish are highly aggressive, invasive and eat other native fish eggs. Encouraged to kill after catching. I dropped my line in a spot and got a bite within 10 seconds. I’ve fished off the jettys north of Loyola and caught nothing but these little bastards. They’ve replaced all the native fish in the area.
I think it depends on the rig you’re using. If you’re trying drop shot these will hit the bait almost instantly if any are near.
I usually just throw a worm on one of these and go for whatever panfish are hugging structure.
