X has silently removed the feature for paid subscribers to set an NFT as a profile picture, which was introduced in 2022.

    To this day, the stupidest thing about NFTs in my opinion, is that it claims to be “decentralized” yet OpenSea uses cloud services like AWS*, hahaha

      IIRC the monkey jpegs themselves were stored on ipfs, while open sea the marketplace was hosted on centralised services
