Although Microsoft has incorporated Bing Chat (using GPT-4) into Bing, they’ve also introduced a feature named Browse with Bing (Beta) within ChatGPT Plus (GPT-4). Whenever I need to conduct online research, I utilize both of these AI-powered tools.
Interestingly, I’ve discovered that ChatGPT, when paired with Browse with Bing, delivers far superior and more accurate results compared to Bing Chat alone.
Is anyone else having a similar experience?
It’s been a few weeks since I compared, but I had the exact opposite experience. ChatGPT + Bing almost never succeeded in finding anything for me. Maybe it’s gotten better.
This aged like milk. The feature was turned off for legal reasons. This is incredibly stupid.
WTF. And I used it yesterday!
This is the mentioned article: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/8077698-how-do-i-use-chatgpt-browse-with-bing-to-search-the-web
Yup was using for some research, though I’m not as upset since it often comes up useless so I do the scholarly search for links and give it to ChatGPT plugins enabled and work from there. 100% better. Thankfully it’s not going to take long before we get cheap and easy to run models that can rival ChatGPT 4.
I have also found the opposite- I did a big test of chatgpt with bing vs chatgpt with various web plugins vs bing creative vs bard, and here are the queries and results:

I found that chatgpt with browser was one of the worst performing, taking the longest o give results (1-2+ minutes), often giving an error, sometimes saying - “I tried but didn’t have enough time, I’ll keep trying and let you know” then a few queries later on other topics it would give the results of the old query (pretty poor, really).
Frankly, chatgpt with browser is embarrassing compared to bing, often. Bing gives references - which can be VERY useful, especially if you think it might be hallucinating, as if you ask a chat AI for references if you’re suspicious of incorrect information, they often say “sorry, can’t do that”.
Maybe they’ve improved it, however I don’t even bother with chatgpt and browser, and instead use bing and bard (which is often far below par) even though I have a chatgpt pro account.
