How the heck does a plant that literally has the word “California” in its name become an invasive plant in California?

Edit: Ahh, looks like I misunderstood. I thought those were the AKA names, but they’re actually suggested alternative plants.

It’s so weird to be out hiking in redwoods and come across a random stand of Pampas grass. It’s like… did a landscaper get lost…? How did you get here?! Shouldn’t you be in front of a Hyatt Regency??

If at first you’re not successful, try, try again. That’s the fun part anyway

I’ve got that stuff near my house and it keeps coming up and trying to rip the siding off. All periwinkle is pure evil.

Are people purposefully planting onion grass? I’m not in Cali… and granted some of my neighbors look like they’ve intentionally planted it all over their yard… but I’m fairly certain it’s not intentional.

Purple sage as an alternative to iceplant?

Maybe thyme, but sage is not a ground cover.
