Been playing since civ2…
I sank so much of my life into civ4 and civ5…
I couldnt get into civ6… Probably under 20hr of play time
I hope civ7 has something special that will get me back to that “one more turn” feeling…
I have the same but one version earlier. Playing since 1, spent ages on 3 and 4, never got into 5 or 6. I have friends with similar experiences. It seems at some point the magic is just gone…
I feel like I learned nothing new, watching this teaser. I just hope they shift to a more realistic artstyle. Civ 6 was very comic like.
Came here to say it, glad I’m not the only one! The goofy, cartoonish characters is what keep me from playing it. Wish they would change that but the teaser provides no insight.
I loved everything about 6 except for that mobile game art style. I didn’t really like the fog of war being a map but that was easy to fix with a mod
They better not remove “I am fond of pigs”.
Surprised to see the opinions on V/VI not being as good. I’ve played every interation of this game and they all brought something to the table. VI and the districting gameplay added a lot to the game. One unit per tile in V also made combat more tactical than doom stacking around.
The big thing I’d like in a new one is less cheaty AI. It’s just so boring that winning on Deity is basically exploiting AI foibles instead of… you know, building a stronger nation on an even keel. At the highest difficulty AI should get no bonuses but still be really good at playing the game.
As an avid grand strategy / 4x gamer, AI cheating is the biggest hurdle that no game ever gets right. When somebody finally figures it out our genre will reach nirvana.
Is it even a teaser if they don’t show you anything you care about other than the name?
Anyway, I’m curious to see if this one will get me to finally leave Civ V behind.

Do we really need a new Civ every few years? I feel like we haven’t had a real need for a completely new one since Civ V. What can they improve upon? Graphics? That’s laughable for a game like this.
It’s been 8 years since VI came out. That’s the longest they’ve gone between releases since the original. It’s also difficult to say if it’s necessary without actually seeing what VII has to offer. If it’s VI with a new coat of paint, then I agree. But I hope they bring a novel aspect like districts was for VI that made it worth it.
Diplomacy. They can improve diplomacy. Will they? Absolutely not. But they could.
Sure, they could improve on many things, but does that justify the making of a new game? They could just patch Civ VI.
