It had been in the works for a while, but now it has formally been adopted. From the article:
The regulation provides that by 2027 portable batteries incorporated into appliances should be removable and replaceable by the end-user, leaving sufficient time for operators to adapt the design of their products to this requirement.
I hope the UK follows this one.
It’ll be the Brussels effect right, this will just end up with the rest of the world getting it as they’re aren’t though to have production line just for Europe.
Unfortunately, only Europe. Because manufacturers still want to capitalize on those “not easily removable” batteries in the rest of the world.
