Hi all! Mikey here, one of your fearless admins. We’ve had so many new users lately that I wanted to bid you all welcome! Have a look around. You’ll need an account to see the nsfw content, which is most of it. Feel free to sign up for one – we rarely go more than a few hours, maybe a day at most, without zeroing the application queue.
We like new people and we strongly encourage to you participate, not just lurk! But before you do, please check the rules in the right-hand sidebar of the main page (or here) and also give the ol’ FAQ a quick clickeroonie: https://docs.lemmynsfw.com/docs/faq/.
Our purpose is to be a safe, friendly place for NSFW “research” on the Fediverse . I know a lot of you are coming over from reddit and so I would like to stress that despite superficial similarities, we are not reddit and we don’t want to be reddit. The vibe around here is different and some things that were common over there are not acceptable around here. Please make note of our content restrictions. We are especially picky about respect and consent, and we take our sourcing policy seriously.
Things are still pretty new around here and there are a lot of rough edges, so we hope you’ll try to bear with us. Lemmy isn’t fully featured yet, so running a Lemmy instance, let alone an NSFW instance, is kind of like trying to build a plane while it’s already in the air.
If you have any new user questions you can comment here, post in c/asklemmynsfw, or if you use matrix, there’s a public operations page: https://matrix.to/#/#lemmynsfw:matrix.org (what Lemmy is to Reddit and Mastodon is to Twitter, matrix is to Slack or Discord). You can also message me or another admin, but matrix will probably get you a faster reply.
Thanks everyone! Welcome once again, and I hope to see you around.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com
YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME
Not the boss of you YET.
But is he the bot of you?
also no
I find this bot especially enjoying because its “better” link format doesn’t work for me - is not highlighted or clickable. And it posts this so-called correction on links that DO work for me just fine.
Thanks Mikey and the rest of the admins.
I have a small suggestion: number the rules on the sidebar. For me (iOS safari and iOS voyager), the rules show up as bullets. If they were numbered, when someone refers to a “rule #” violation, I wouldn’t have to count the rules to figure out which one was being violated.
Yeah, I’m that lazy.
They are numbered? Do you not see them like this?
Also on iOS, with DuckDuckGo and Memmy. They all just show up as bullet points for me. No numbers
bizarre, I see them that way too on windows/chrome.
which way, what I posted or without numbers?
same as you.
Ah. Unfortunately, that’s not what I see. I’m guessing this is a markdown issue. I feel like I’ve seen lack of markdown support being mentioned as an issue with lemmy on mobile. Here is what I see:

So… I guess you could manually number them for idiots like me… or just wait for markdown support to work properly.
So just typing numbers breaks formatting, but I can see what I can do.
Ok so, new user here. I created an account on this instance so I could separate my “extracurricular” browsing from a regular account. However, there are a number of communities that I see from other instances that are supposedly hosted here, but I cannot find them when I search here. What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: Never mind, I’m an idiot. Fixed.
How did you fix it? I’ve been having similar problems but haven’t found a way to fix them.
You have to go into your profile settings and enable NSFW content.

I’m on sync and new to lemmy. Do I just subscribe and wait to be processed?
Hello fellow perverts 👋
For anyone new signing up, and waiting for their signup-approval … it takes a while, they need to make sure you are a real pervert. Mine took a full day, so please don’t lose hope, check back soon.
A while = hours to a day or two.
I don’t think we’ve let user apps get any older than 24 or so hours, but we are just people! If someone slipped through the cracks and had to wait longer, I’m sorry.
My apologies, I should have written that better. It was not a complaint.
Was setting the correct expectations for future sign-ups. People are so used to an instant response that waiting an hour or two may lead them to think that their application got declined.
If they signed up without an email some would never know about the approval. They would just wander off to some other nsfw focused instance. 🙂
