DM_ME_SQUIRRELS@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•You didn't bought it you rented it!1·2 years agoWhy isn’t it fair? No reason you can’t just torrent a 10GB Blu-Ray rip of the movie. It’s free, easy and probably takes less time than going out and buying a DVD.
I would say that side-to-side the quality of Netflix-like streaming is A LOT better, at least when it comes to video. Audio is probably comparable since both DVD’s and streaming services usually use Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus.
DM_ME_SQUIRRELS@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•You didn't bought it you rented it!1·2 years agoThe video quality is shit and it’s extremely obvious in my opinion. Even the sound is inferior to a good torrent with Dolby TrueHD/DTS HD sound.

If my players are in a major city I want a dice table that fits that context, if they’re in a small seaside village I want one for that context. I may also want to customize it with very easy or very hard monsters, NPC’s with certain backgrounds or traits and so on. I’ve been using ChatGPT for exactly that and it really helps make the campaigns less repetitive.

I’ve been using AI (mainly ChatGPT and Midjourney) for my current campaign and it’s great. While I make up most of the campaign myself, ChatGPT is like a supercharged contextually aware DM app. “Come up with a monster that would fit x situation”, “make up a riddle for the players”, “what do the rules say about x?” and so on. It’s like having another person to discuss the creative choices with, but that person is an expert that knows every rule, monster, place and so on.

I tried to read about it on their website since I want to know exactly what they collect and how they store it but couldn’t find anuthing other than instructions on how to set it up.

I work as a teaching assistant and after-school teacher with grades 1-4 (not exactly, but those are the closest US equivalents). Always loved technology though so I spend as much time as I can teaching my kiddos programming and other nerdy things.

DM_ME_SQUIRRELS@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How many Lemmy users are non-technical background?3·2 years agoAuthority is useless. It’s all about building relationships, especially with the difficult kids. The rest will usually listen to you anyway just because you’re an adult.
Now I wonder if it would work on those tiny painful as fuck cuts that you get around your fingernails during winter when your skin is dry. I’ve been using those expensive Compeed bandaids which do provide instant relief but if it’s just about blocking the air then maybe Vaseline could be just as good.

However, I disagree with many on the part about just finding something that pays the bills and finances your hobbies. You’re going to do your job for 40 hours a week for almost your whole life. There is nothing you’ll spend more time doing than your job.
I’ve found a job that I love and it makes life much more enjoyable. While my job doesn’t have an exact US equivalent, the best way to describe it is that I work as a teaching assistant during the school day and as a teacher at after-school. Sure, I still hate getting up on Mondays (and the rest of the days too, honestly), dealing with difficult parents and idiot bosses and all the other annoying shit that comes with any job, but all in all I love it and I’d gladly keep working 20-30 hours a week there for free if I won the lottery tomorrow. I could make hundreds or even a thousand dollars more every month if I took say a factory job, but it’s still worth it because I genuinely have fun doing my job.
Try to find something that you really like and still pays the bills. It’s worth it.

Of course some of it is due to there not being any alternatives (for example decent public transport so you don’t have to own a car) but some of it is also because we actively choose cheaper products, buy new things instead of second-hand and so on.
What we need (which we all seem to agree on) is more regulations so that corporations have to their part and then the individuals simply won’t have the option to choose the more polluting product.
