Searxng is very good, I like it a lot. As for OSM, I didn’t even know it could be hosted.

Prosody (XMPP server), a git instance, a searXNG instance, Tandoor (recipe manager), Next Cloud, Syncthing for my phone and my partner’s (one could say Next Cloud should be enough but I use it for different purposes), and a few other stuff.

It doesn’t even use an eight of its total RAM and I’ve never seen the CPU go past 20℅. But it uses a lot less power than the thin client it replaced so not a bad investment, especially considering its price.

My first @home server was an old defective iMac G3 but it did the job (and then died for good) A while back, I got a RP3 and then a small thin client with some small AMD CPU. They (barely) got the job done.

I replaced them with an HP EliteDesk G2 micro with a i5-6500T. I don’t know what to do with the extra power.

It expands a lot on the lore of the worlds, switches between severals characters (which isn’t bad) while the first one is pretty much focused Lobsang and Joshua. I preferred the first one but that doesn’t mean the second is bad, not at all. I do wonder where the story is going and I want to know what happens the next chapter so I’d call that good writing.

The long Earth, the first book of the… Long Earth series, a collaboration between Stephen Baxter and the late Terry Pratchett. Unlike Good Omens, Pratchett’s writing feels less present but still a great book. I just finished the second book of the series, The Long War, and in a couple weeks I’ll start the third one. They didn’t lose all their money because of the medical bills, they’re losing their money because they can’t work anymore and the state is not giving them “benefits” (horrible word in this case). One is an issue with healthcare, one is an issue with social welfare, again, not the same thing.

I use it on my personal server and it’s only for myself so I think I installed Gitea because it was easier or something.

There are self hosted github alternatives, like Gitea for example. It takes 10 minutes to set up and it behaves like github/gitlab. So all to advantages can be kept.
