I mean, I am okay with paying for something that I use but double the price just like that? Nope.

And the best part is that this also works with the wiki command.
So, for example, you found an item and want to know what it is and what you can use to for, just link it after /wiki and you are redirected to the full page of that item.
Unfortunately, I lately have issues with firefox in which the first wiki command somehow screws with my firefox and thinks that it needs to restart before being able to work correctly.

Man, my banking app recently switched to a different keyboard. One that doesn’t allow integrations like bitwarden. I also cannot copy paste my password into the password field so I have to enter my 32 character password by hand.
Mind you, this is not an app that does ANY banking in the first place it is just to authorize access to my bank account or for transactions.
So it is always a few minutes copying the password, making sure I haven’t miss-typed on the shitty keyboard or because of my sausage fingers and then being logged out of my bank account in the browser because it took so much time copying that password.
They look so disappointed and concerned.

Google updated their Android TV home which made 60% and More of the dashboard just ads so I added projectify as my launcher. There are now only 2 apps being shown on my screen. Plex and Google Play (for updating apps).
Fribbtastic@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•PS5 Homescreen Now Replaces Unique Video Game Art With Annoying Ads You Can’t Turn OffEnglish8·9 months agoYou know, I was really sick and tired when they updated the nvidia shield with the new android TV version that makes most of the screen show stuff that are basically ads. It didn’t even let me show only stuff I was interested in and this constant “oh you are hovering over this item for 0.000001s so you seem to be interested in this, let me start the video for you with audio” no god damnit I was reading something else or got a text.
I had to install a different launcher so that I could only show on the screen what I actually wanted to see. I have basically removed or reduced all ads as much as I ca.
Lately, I was at my parents place and they don’t have that stuff. Even the 1.5 minutes of ads for a free service is so disruptive to me watching something.
What has this to do with PlayStation?
Well, on the shield you are still able to install a custom launcher that is more to your liking, you could disable the internet access and completely stream your own local content. But on the PS, you don’t have that option and are completely at the mercy of what they think you should watch and see on your screen that you bought with a console that you also bought with your own money.
Fribbtastic@lemmy.worldto Dungeons and Dragons@lemmy.world•How to pre-order the Revised 2024 D&D core rulebook5·1 year agoDnDBeyond is a tool that you can use to play your campaign. It also has and offers the rule books but also campaign books digitally for your account.
So no, when you rely exclusively on the hardcopy books that you have to play the campaign, then this wouldn’t really matter much to you. However, when they decide that you cannot use DnDBeyond to keep track of your campaign and characters and so on with a previous version then you would either need to convert to those new rules or not use DnDBeyond anymore.

I also daily greet my coworkers over threema and it still hasn’t learned what I want to write when my sausage fingers and the too smal keyboard are at a disagreement what should be written.

Unraid “supports” docker compose. You can install and use it but you won’t be able to utilize how unraid handles docker containers.
All that unraid does is make docker more accessible for the normal user. In the end the container template constructs a docker run command.
So you could use portainer to manage stacks through a webui or install compose and have to SSH into the unraid server all the time.
I had the pleasure recently to create an ffmpeg command to transcode a video into HEVC 10bit with quicksync.
I had tha previously running completely fine on my Nvidia GPU. You would think that it would just be replacing the parameter which device or hardware acceleration to use.
Yeah, turns out that there are like 4 ways to set the quality value of the transcoded output, CRF didn’t work for some reason with quick sync so you need to use global quality or something. I spend days on this trying to figure this out, DAYS.
It is a very powerful tool but every time I have to use it, it is too complicated and I have to spend hours or days to get it working.
Why did I read that with the David Attenborough voice in mind?

Fribbtastic@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix is planning to raise prices… againEnglish10·2 years agoAs long as people pay for it and they make massive profits through it.
I mean, look at the last situation in which netflix addressed account sharing. Their user number actually increased because of it from what I have read.
Those people that can’t afford it will most likely switch to a less expensive tier and then probably see ads. I have seen that recently with my father who wasn’t even bothered or annoyed by the constant ads while watching a single episode.
Fribbtastic@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Young climate activist tells Greenpeace to drop ‘old-fashioned’ anti-nuclear stanceEnglish0·2 years agoThis is the same problem/argument you have with the argument/perception of planes being unsafe.
In 2022 almost 43000 people died in “motor vehicle traffic crashes”. And yet many believe that Planes are much more dangerous to use than cars because hundreds of people die all at once in a Plane crash.
A Plane crash is automatically a sensation, something that doesn’t happen every day but a car accident happens every day but this isn’t reported as much because it is already a daily routine.
The same goes with the “Coal kills more than nuclear” argument which is even less likely to be grasped by the normal population.
I mean just look at the climate change denier who say “but it is snowing so climate change isn’t real” while at the same time complaining that each summer is so incredibly hot.
All of those things are so incredibly complex that the vast majority can’t understand and outright deny them because they read/heard somewhere that they actually can understand, that it is a hoax. I mean, I wouldn’t count myself to the people that understand climate change but I can understand that it will have a drastic impact on our lives if this goes on.
the actual problem here is that OPs network is not configured correctly and that Plex detects that the physical local client is actually accessing the server from a totally other network.
Fairly common when you use docker to run Plex and have the container run in bridge mode. This will put the container in the docker network that will then be different to your local network.
Plex determines if a stream is local or remote based on the network so when your container is in bridge mode, the physical local client will be a remote connection because of the different networks.
And since remote streaming requires Plex pass since end of April, you will see this.
