Seriously. Flip to another thread and it will be cashiers/servers/customer service workers complaining that cusotmers are such assholes because they are entitled to shit that they aren’t. This advice was just encouraging that.

What I never quite understand/know is where internet based services land. If I run a cloud based storage company / web design company or such, the servers are on my personal property and therefore should be considered allowed. Where does that start becoming non “personal.”
It’s like charging someone to park their ideas/data on my personal property. Which I imagine would be considered private property instead. Where is the nuanced line?
Anyone care to explain?
Shoot, Im on android with Jerboa right now, is connecg or Sync for just iOS for now?
Hitting enter whilst expecting a “how to google” response, haha
I played Sniper Elite 5 on my fiances Xbox the other day and hadn’t played games in forever. (34 years old now) I knew I could remap the buttons if needed, but the melee button they made Y. I pressed down the right stick every damn time as a built in reaction from years back.
I don’t know why I felt I needed to say that, but I tell you when you find yourself looking through binoculars and getting lit up at point blank range it reminded me how frustrating games can get during quick scenarios.
I’m glad to see people talking about things that aren’t positive here really. I was curious at first how much echo chamber this was going to have and the underlying obvious point that well… people who didn’t like lemmy as much either:
A. Aren’t going to take the time to respond to this post or
B. Won’t see the post because they are gone already.
I hadn’t heard of them until I saw lemmy.ca blocked them earlier. If Canadians are blocking you for being hateful that might be saying something.
I read ~88% of its 800+ million dollar a year revenue comes from search engines.
Surely if that’s true it would have no impact on their decisions /s
“The majority of Mozilla’s revenue is generated from search functionality included in our Firefox product through all major search partners including Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Amazon, Ebay and others.”
Everything you just said was optimistic as fuck.
750 employees, 826 million dollars in revenue a year.
So what do they choose. Fire 700 employees and go down to 26 mill revenue?
Edit: when the hivemind disperses and sees Firefox follow Google in using tokens and blocking ad blockers, you may not see it as one of the dumbest thing you’ve read before.
Meh, people proved that wrong with glory holes, only really have to fit 1 person and an access point.
2 years from now Firefox will have blocked adblockers, and there will be chromium based browsers (not Chrome) that won’t have them blocked.
I don’t see why people seem to be thinking a large company in a capitalistic landscape isn’t going to side with profits. Firefox will oppose it openly right now and take the new users and then move to the same without lube and without apologies.
Small browsers that still have some morals before going public will build browers off chromium because of its ease, and they will be able to exclude those blocks. Likely means we will be using different browsers every few years until something else changes.
Maybe I’m pessimistic here, but anyone who just moved from Reddit to Lemmy should know that Firefox isn’t the answer, it is another greed driven overlord.
Mimicking the tokens on the otherhand… those sites we will need to boycott if possible.
I thought all research has shown blocking porn increases rapes and sexual assaults. If that is true a vote to block porn is a vote to increase sexual assaults and rapes without introducing some alternative into the picture
My only thought (plausable excuse) is that he is possibly sucking up while expressing discontent under the false pretense maybe Musk will pay him losses. Whether he likes him or not, he should know someone thay disagrees with him will not get paid but rather sued for existing.
Had someone ask me why their phone didnt make noise or vibrate when they recieved calls the other day. They were pressing the volume down button with the unlock button to get the screen to turn on/off. So it would slowly mute the phone and take the vibrate off once muted.
They would have benefited from the buttons not being less than half an inch away, and possibly on the opposite side. (Not sure what kind of phone it was, it was a cheaper device it seemed.)
Yeah, Id prefer them to just make the phone wider, fit a bigger battery since the width is back, throw the aux port back in. Also a rf blaster like years ago would be nice. (Universal remote apps)
When companies stop paying them do much for making them more money.

If you find 7 mins to kill and havent heard/seen the gary gulman stand up about abbreviating the states it’s pretty good.
Thanks for answering them… but I have to say I had a good laugh at people not knowing NM. It makes sense though, if people don’t know the name well maybe not many people have driven up prices there yet
Everyone in the U.S. calls it Australia that I know, some other countries do as well.
Wikipedia lists it as Australia for us as well. (All textbooks did here)
The reasoning we were taught is that Continents were large land masses, which Oceania unlike the other 6, isn’t really a landmass so much, rather just the name of the tectonic plate.
