To be honest I had no idea that people from this instance were doing it until one troll post bragging about getting us banned from Beehaw and explained how he did it, along with a comic book supervillian diatribe about how the Fediverse isn’t safe and long live Reddit.

It’s lousy being blocked by an entire section of the site and now labelled a bigot because some trolls made their accounts on the same instance as me.

I mean this with absolute sincerity: the average person is dumber than you would expect or imagine. That’s why scams exist.

There’s a giant list on the wiki that has hundreds. There’s even one with a fancy front end that searches through all the other sites and remembers your episodes and the shows you watch.

They don’t make money off of our regular interactions on the site. They make money by selling tracking packages of users to advertisers.

In an app made by them, they can track so so much of what you do. Much much harder to get data from someone using a third-party app.

Funnily enough, I’ve found that ChatGPT gives really good technical troubleshooting tips (like DIY and programming stuff). Cuts my troubleshoot time down tremendously.
