Technology@lemmy.world•Electric motorcycles with solid-state batteries seem to be coming soon.English
3·9 days agoIt doesn’t matter. It’s a lie. Ideal conditions and driving the bike at 19km/h achieves that. How many people are going to be driving a top speed of 19km/h on a bike? Their stats are physically impossible given the hardware they’re stating and are relying on people with little knowledge of real world range on electric motorcycles or charge density of solid state vs lion

674·10 days agoI think it’s irresponsible of the Verge to tout an electric motorcycle’s range as “up to 600km”. It’s absolute fantasy.
I have an electric dirtbike and a gas bike. My gas bike has an 11.1 L tank and can go about 360km per tank.
The highest actual range I’ve seen on an electric motorcycle is about 100km of mixed use (highway and city).
Solid state batteries have the potential capability of having almost double the power density as lithium ion. So approx 200-300km (maybe).
Pretty solid but doubling THAT is just dishonest and in no way going to happen. You’re claiming to have more power density than internal combustion. That’s just straight up dishonest.
Well as you’ve explained at length, there’s nothing that can be done and you (and those who think like you) are consumed with fear. To you, there is no hope so why bother. I don’t have anything else to say to say on this so have a good day.
Ah so it’s everyone else’s fault that Americans are gutless? That makes a lot of sense to me that you would think that. Countries enacted counter tariffs, which is standing up to tariffs.
The world needs to get its shit together and stop this train.
No. Americans need to get their shit together and stop this train. Fix your own fucking problems.

Technology@beehaw.org•Microsoft Edge is getting a Copilot-inspired redesign
2·10 days agoThey’re doing that themselves. An E5 M365 license gave you a home page where you could access web versions of all the office apps (word, PowerPoint, excel). All the things an office worker would need.
Now the home page is copilot. All the sidebar buttons are copilot agents.
It’s only when you scroll down all the way and click the tiny “all apps” button at the bottom do you find a place where all the office apps are.
I’ve never seen such stupidity and bad design in such a huge product.
True absolute morons are at the helm.

3·14 days agoYa the phrase is definitely from 1400s or so Jewish philosophy, not strictly from the Torah. You can think of it as Ashkenazi DLC

5·14 days agoI speak Hebrew and you’re not 100% correct here. “Eretz yisrael” (land of Israel) is mentioned in the Torah and all sorts of other religious texts. There’s also the word “Yerushalayim”, which is Jerusalem. For Ashkenazi Jews during chanukkah, there’s a famous saying: “L’Shana Haba’ah B’Yerushalayim” which means “next year in Jerusalem”.

The overwhelming majority of vr world users are children ages 7-14. There are almost no adults. The adults that are there are trying to interact with kids in an environment where there is zero supervision.
