I’m pretty sure that there are serious vulnerabilities in the netcode of the original MW that makes playing it online on PC unsafe. I haven’t ever seen an authoritative source confirm it however the last time I tried to play it online probably 4 years ago. There were all sorts of malicious redirects when trying to join servers from the browser
I will always love United Offensive, it was the first game I ever played online. Modding the game got me into programming and managing servers led me to networking and got me to the career that I have today. I’m not a game pass subscriber but it would great for more people to be able to experience it
Bridgy Fed exists to act as a bridge between AP and ATProto/blue sky if you want to use ATProto from Mastodon. Sadly, though, the bluesky user has to also follow the bridge for you to be able to see their posts from mastodon.
Hog barns or farrowing houses typically don’t have high roofs and you can accommodate more pigs in the same amount of space.
It’s more of how things were engineered and for what uses. IE if the barn is also used for hay or equipment storage in addition to accommodating livestock
Your instance. That’s what is great about the fediverse is that if there isn’t an instance that meets your needs, you can host that niche yourself and still have access to the same content (assuming you can stay on good terms with the other instances)
Personally I don’t have a problem with Lemmy.world’s moderation choices but if I did, I could always self host. But quite frankly if I had to face the risk of hosting an instance, I’d probably make a lot of similar choices
Funny you should mention that, the UHC killer killed 300 bugs in civ iv during his internship with the dev according to his resume.
Expect a knock on your door from the FBI tonight
I don’t know if I’ve seen split opinions on Naughty Dog Crash games. It’s pretty much always been praised. Post Naughty Dog is a different story as well.
I think I like the author’s point of comparing the nostalgia most gamers feel for series like Crash Bandicoot compared to the nostalgia that modern day viral games will bring Zoomers and Gen Alpha but I also can’t help but be deeply offended by it.
The US should ban Amazon
Archive storage is relatively cheap. It’s the bandwidth and compute required to serve video that is expensive
If devs want to make an alternative to CoD, they need to make a fun single player FPS first and make a small but fun multiplayer component.
The problem is that publishers see the dollar signs from CoD and Fortnite and want to make a MP scam game without realizing that gamers only want to be scammed by Fortnite and CoD because they were actually fun before they became a scam.
Nothing is wrong with it as long as everyone realizes that it isn’t really resistant to enshittification as the network stands now and isn’t meaningfully federated or decentralized yet
Come to think of it, all the USB C cables I have are from phone and device chargers so I just took it for granted. Good to know. Thanks for sharing some knowledge with me
It’s not exactly decentralized if you use the official relay only, just distributed which is a different concept entirely
Do not all USB C cables have the capability to do Power Delivery? I thought it was up to the port you plugged it in to support it?
That changes everything. That’s dirty pool, shouldn’t have been allowed by SEC/Fed or who ever their regulator was
The FDIC coverage wouldn’t be what they would be worried about. They wouldn’t have their accounts much above FDIC limits.
My point is that the FDIC serves to prevent a banking crisis that would limit their ability to liquidate their assets and realize their wealth
I realize that my comment does sound really harsh. And there definitely should be criminal penalties for falsely advertising that they were an FDIC covered institution and a best effort to return the funds
But (again I am being harsh again) there is risk in putting your money in a faceless app instead of a brick and mortar institution and there needs to be some personal accountability for making bad decisions
They are against things like the CFPB but they aren’t getting rid of the FDIC which is the good faith backing of the US banking system. The 1% isn’t so liquid that they wouldn’t lose huge amounts of money with a full scale banking crisis
Just cut into bite size pieces, toss it in oil, salt and pepper it, put it on a baking sheet and roast at 425 for around 20 minutes. Don’t fry it in a pan. It will be delicious
