2·1 month agoI’m currently playing The Forever Winter… and it is BRUTALLY difficult. Gorgeous game and worldbuilding though. It’s in Alpha so things are very much in flux but I just can’t seem to put this dystopian nightmare down.

Games@lemmy.world•Xbox: "Price Increases Are Never Fun For Anybody"
34·1 month agoThey’ve made very clear that they’re reducing functionality, dropping products including their gaming companies, and raising prices across the board to somehow come up with billions for AI. They no longer care about their customers or employees, only this holy grail quest for money that will evaporate. Dump Microsoft.

Why are we like this?
Ironic that in the olden days people stopped paying for college as a waste so they could get certificates to go into tech and make bank xD.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI lovers grieve loss of ChatGPT’s old model: ‘Like saying goodbye to someone I know’
29·3 months agoYeah you can tell ChatGPT-5 to act like 4o. You can even put it into a permanent system prompt. I do think the 4o personality was much chummier, but I’m mainly irritated at what’s already been mentioned here. You put down money for an experience, you like the experience, and then they’re like YOINK.
Pretty soon it will just be AI glasses talking to one another all the way down.
I just learned they rolled out ChatGPT 5 last night. Hope this isn’t a harbinger of things to come.

It’s more efficient, but it’s still gotta use the juice. Just built a house and made sure we insulated the walls and our power usage is miniscule, even with all the appliances running. When talking about electric bills you gotta prioritize what gives you the most bang for the buck and it’s always insulation first. Also, don’t sleep on solar! During the day when it’s hot, you don’t even need to power your whole house with it, just use it to offset some of the power you use on those really smothering days.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How did you decide what you generally wanted to do with your life?
16·4 months agoI was changing majors in college like changing clothes… but was the only one in my dorm that had her own computer and dot matrix printer and knew how to fix it. (yes I’m old) Took me way too long to figure out that my hobby was the foundation for a career.
…point being that you might be good at something that has value and you aren’t recognizing it.
And here I am reminiscing about THIS being our greatest problem in society.
