I’ve never seen the appeal. A simple smb share and Kodi work perfectly fine no?

atthecoast@feddit.nlto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: In China, a growing number of people are avoiding Starbucks. Many prefer local owned brands. Starbucks corporate executives are angry about it.11·3 months agoI don’t agree, they’re mostly fine (Luckin better than Cotti), but Starbucks flavor is stronger and more “dark roast”. Also, their Shanghai coffee roasters facility is in a league of its own!
Having said that. China’s economy is not doing well and consumers are looking to cut back on expenses. I guess Luckin is the “good enough” option?

atthecoast@feddit.nlto World News@lemmy.world•German security officials believe the Kremlin is laying the groundwork for a potential large-scale conventional war with NATO by the end of the decadeEnglish997·4 months agoThey burned through their Soviet stockpiles of artillery and tanks in 3 years fighting Ukraine, what makes anyone think they could fight NATO?
Yes they were afraid of reciprocal tariffs from china, but also many Tesla’s sold in Europe are actually made in Shanghai, the Berlin factory only makes high end model Y’s.
It’s like an arms race, would be good if no-one did it, would be bad if China got there first.
There’s a whole ecosystem of listener-supported podcasts using the “value for value” model popularized by “the Podfather” Adam Curry. You can find most of them on podcastindex.org or through a supported app like Podverse or Fountain.

It’s been companies like Apple that have pioneered using Chinese labor to increase their profits. Moving jobs to the USA won’t help make them any richer. It makes economic sense but not strategic sense
This is so amazing, I never got this (wine and emulation stack) to work on Mac!

I’ll never forget the feeling of suddenly being on the bridge.
