Looks like Apple has been working on this, but for whatever reason hasn’t launched it
Wow I had no idea that this existed for such a long time. I’ve clearly been living under a rock… 😅
Seconding AdGuard. Also, there’s no need to pay, the free tier is more than sufficient. Links for convenience:
gluetun bundles a control server on port 8000 which you can query for the port number (don’t worry about openvpn
being in the url path, it still works with Wireguard). In my bash script (running on the host system), I use curl
to retrieve the forwarded port number and then do a POST with that data to the API of my qbt client which is running in another container on port 8080.
There’s a reason why most providers don’t allow that feature anymore
Yes, cheese pizza
It’s said that port forwarding is a security risk
Says who? Assuming a fully patched system/client and a properly configured firewall/network, I’d love to hear more about these “risks”.
Also, qBitTorrent works just fine without it.
Only if you don’t care about seeding
Based. I use gluetun with qbt and ProtonVPN (with port forwarding). Despite this being a tricky config, it was still pretty easy to setup. Can share bash scripts if anyone is interested.
I’m personally a big fan of bore. It’s easy to setup/use and there’s a free public instance operated by the developer.
Here’s a link to the PR for anyone who’s interested
Allegedly Tim Cook does the same thing. Can’t imagine what he’d be doing 16h a day, but I’ve heard he’s almost always at Apple Park
Glad to see progress on this topic. Pretty sure microplastics will be our generation’s lead.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I treat my phone like an old school digital camera. I routinely use Image Capture to export my photos/videos to my computer and/or external HDD. I’ve got a 256GB phone, but I’m never using more than 1/5 of its storage space at any given time
Assuming you’re referring to Apple Store credit, I’ve run into this exact scenario before in a somewhat related way. Accidentally claimed a gift card I meant to send to someone else (be careful with that redeem button in the email lol, it’ll instantly apply the balance to your account with one click, so don’t fat finger it like me 🥲). Apple support wouldn’t (or couldn’t) undo that action. In other words, it’s a one way street. Once the credits enter your account, they can’t be used anywhere other than the Apple Store/icloud/App Store/etc
It’s in the app. Tap on any item and then scroll all the way down until you see the box that says Looking for specific info
?
Honestly glad I went with the 15" M2 MacBook Air when it came out. This is a very modest spec bump over the M2 Airs.
This. And if you really want to install something, I recommend a good adblocker (ads are sometimes a vector for malware distribution)
Not surprised. Building cars is a high overhead, low margin business. Not to mention being difficult… like very difficult. Furthermore, if the rumors are to be believed, the initial version of this car would have been priced around 100k US, which is totally unaffordable for your average consumer. Apple is better off sticking to something that they know, like building software for other peoples’ cars
does not let me read news
This isn’t always an issue with your adblocker. When it comes to bypassing paywalls, I can’t recommend 12ft.io and archive.is enough.
Anyone that has done software/hardware development knows that more new features usually means more bugs/broken stuff. I’m always glad to see stability/minor updates
Mostly yes. And if it does require server-side processing, the data gets deleted after. This stance is totally different from other AI providers who make no such promises about data retention and/or using your inputs to train future models
