No worries, no need to apologize, I enjoyed your post :)

Oh my god, that scene in the beginning of Amistad just flashed back in my head. I had completely blocked it for like 25+ years and now it is back, oh god, I feel sick.
I am really happy you enjoyed :)
The sad little aliens are pretty relatable too
Right?
I didn’t know Jacques Brel by name but I when to check it out and the first YouTube suggestion was Ne me quittes pas and I recognize it, very sad and very beautiful indeed.
There is a bunch of melancholic songs but what that always comes to mind and I enjoy since I was a teenager is this 3 songs by Moby:
First, don’t spend money on it. That is the most important. Second, if possible make something useful of my body, like donating to science. I listened to a podcast about this “cemetery” that is a research facility and they let the bodies decompose in a variety of situations to study the process. Third, don’t do any funeral or rituals and that includes keeping a cemetery lapid or stuff like that.
One exception is if someone wants to do something really funny and weird, like the guy that wanted his skull preserved and the rest made into two diamonds that would be fitted to the skull and to be kept like in the living room to judge everyone or something.
I wanted to buy Age of Empires 2 but it seems it is not on sale :(
I think the problem is what you consider an escalation. If someone slaps you in the face, you slapping them back is considered an escalation or proportional response? I think most would consider framing it as an escalation as a type of shifting the blame or changing the frame of events that minimize the responsibilities of the the guy that first slapped you.
Probably he wants the NAS so he can access stuff from other computers and phones.
When I moved to lemmy (Don’t know if was last year or this year already) all the other apps I tested was really bad at discoverability. On Sync you can open and instance and see the list of communities in there for example.
Me too but I believe Sync for some time now has a Pro+ that has more features and is subscription based.
It has being some years for me too. But if my memory serves me right there is this scene I think in the later half that 2 of the main characters break in a house, I guess it is the witch’s mother house I don’t quite remember but the background music did not match the vibe at all.
Dark is super famous, at least in my corner of the woods. IIt as all the rage if anything it is kinda overrated.
I could not get over the tone shift. It was so baffling for me, one moment a super sinister and serious tone and the next scene was all comedy with a soundtrack that would not be out of place in the 3 stooges. I saw it to the end but was constantly getting out of the immersion with the change to comedy sprinkled all over the place.
Magisk is a godsend. I just wish you could add a password protection to the bootloader and the recovery rom (like the TWRP). That is the one downside to unlock your bootloader. And you can’t like unlock when you need and relock it because to unlock it erases everything. I know that is one more dark pattern from Google to make you keep your phone locked. If they cared about security they would enable a way to put a password to the bootloader
That is the way to go. Any point in time in the past is generally worse than the present. So just go back enough to fix something in our own life’and maybe play the lottery or some stock trading to get set for life.
People will look at one aspect and say that the job sucks. Truth is, there is no perfect job and only you can tell that it balances out. The way you talk about it really feels like a nice place to work, with the exception of the headphones thing, that is weird. And if you like to chat with coworkers a full remote Job may be kinda hell, it is really easy to feel isolated and not connect with people because it takes more effort like going to audio or video calls to hangout or having to chat over text more
My friend likes this 3hours podcast of bunch of people in a table just chatting and talking over each other and I can’t stand It, I like a 20min podcast that has a script, is edited and transmit a coherent message. Them he told me he likes to listen like in the background while working (we are programmers) and then it all makes sense. I can’t listen to the type of podcasts that I like because I have to pay attention. Music is better I can tune out the music while focusing on writing code (and maybe reading code) but I can’t do it while I am reading documentation and researching.
I also recommend It Follows. It is so different. And the characters don’t act dumb. And everything makes sense in the context. Like why they dont get a car or catch a plane, because they are broke teenagers.
Or even better, a dedicated gaming runtime environment. And that env can then be made multiplatform.
