Some people deliberately store things - like towels or place mats - in the oven.
Usually older people.
Someone not aware of that goes to bake something - big problem
Tbf I haven’t used wordpad for a very long time. If ever.
I avoid it because if I’m editing a text file wordpad would just mess it up.
Maybe if it’s an rtf file I need wordpad.
But word is available.
The linux developers have done an awesome job and linux has come so far it’s amazing. But for the vast majority of computer users they don’t even know what a terminal is, period, and linux is useless to them unless a Linux user sets it up for them for a very specific use case and that’s all they ever do with it.
If all they want is an email and web appliance, a typical computer ignorant user can use linux if it is given to them by someone else.
Yet an ignorant computer user can go and buy a Mac or a windows machine from a retailer and get the job done without having to know anything at all other than they want a computer for x y or z.
Its like the linux developers can’t fathom a PC experience without the terminal as a vital participant.
I think reddit applies an algorithm to put content in your feed that they know you want or like or interact with. That will make it more addictive. Lemmy is just grabbing stuff for you, period, with no personalized algorithm as far as I know. I could be wrong but I think thats why it feels different.
reddit manipulates their users just like Facebook and tiktok etc.
Yeah they’re making money but I just saw where “traditional” tv watchers is below 50% now for the first time, the cash flow of the cable /satellite tv subscriptions is in big trouble and everyone was sorta relying on that. The old media production model is dead and I think this strike is related to that.
“sorry, your hard drive is dead. Let’s play some asteroids!”
