Welcome to the hell of being a lemmy admin. There’s a reason why lemmy admins are fed up with the developers.

Just a bunch of Japanese script kiddies targetting the fediverse and its network for some reason. There’s active measures being taken and thankfully many instances are monitoring it pretty well.
Knitting my own garments (sweaters, scarfs, etc) has made me appreciate how long it really takes to make actually good clothing that’s meant to last. Thankfully more and more people are getting on board with the idea of “slow fashion”, with a significant amount of younger people especially during the pandemic picking up knitting and crochet as well as seeing more of the value it possesses than before.
Antisemitism. Welcome to being Jewish on the internet.
Ugh. What the fuck
Let it happen organically. It will happen in waves.

There are some in development! Gotosocial is very very single user friendly and easy to setup and so is writefreely. I do hope in time there is a “lemmy lite” version that has local communities disabled completely and more local user friendly settings. It likely will in time, but we will see.
It’s gradually improving but its 100% not ready for full production outside of enthusiasts who are willing and patient enough to take the time and effort to wrangle with its quirks. If you want to self host (especially as a single user) and aren’t prepared to make vigorous backups and aren’t extremely technical inclined/are a regular average user it’s *really *not worth it right now. It likely will be in time, but there’s a lot of issues with lemmy that need to be addressed. Thankfully the coming update will address some of its most serious though. It helps to be involved in the admin matrix community chats and generally accepting community assistance, but it’s just far too much to keep on top of for most people. If I didn’t have a community and mine was a single user instance, I 100% would have shut it down weeks ago and migrated over to a larger instance.
I think for a shitpost instance a custom ad network banner ads with memes and shitposts would be make sense. What I mean by that is that on geocities as well as some small internet sites there’s “custom ad networks” where they basically rely on donations and or just random people submitting “ads” that normally tend to be just links to their site, weird obscure memes, animal pictures, etc.
I think real ads for the sake of advertising on lemmy wouldn’t really be acceptable in any form, but shitposting ads have potential imo
I can vouch for slrpnk.net. Their staff team is fantastic and extremely proactive in engaging on matters pertaining to user safety.
What reasons are they uncomfy and is there any way we can make women safer here? Not sealioning, being genuine. I try my best to make my instance as inclusive and welcoming as possible and would love to know if there’s anyway I could improve. I honestly would go as far to say there’s a pretty high ratio of women on literature.cafe compared to other small niche focused instances, but I don’t have any actual statistics to gauge from to say definitively.
The subreddit is filled to the brim with such abhorrent people I’m kinda shocked they haven’t been forced to take action against it.
What interests do you have that aren’t found here? Some tiny niche interest communities are being built, you sometimes just gotta find em
Unfortunately those aren’t very reliable, as our current iteration of AI is not very reliable. Most models to use from perpetuate a multitude of different bias pretty heavily.
If someone calls an ambulance and you’re unconscious they will take you the hospital for treatment. You will be responsible for the bill. Including the thousands of dollars for the ambulance ride.
And no, even though you were unconscious and not able to consent to treatment willingly you will still be responsible for the bill. There are ways of dealing with it, but one accident is all it takes for a ruined credit score for some people. It is as fucked up as it sounds.
There are ways of waiving bills, getting financial assistance etc but it’s a total nightmare dealing with hospital billing departments
This is freaking awesome!
Thanks. I don’t know if I have the budget accounted for it this month and this current instance alongside each other, so if it were to be made it would be probably next month.
I love it. People complain about the lack of hobbyist spaces so I’m making an active effort to build them up more as time allows. I have considered making an art lemmy instance which may be a potential eventually, but I’m fine either way.
For context, there’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to lemmy admin stuff especially in the matrix channels. There is a significant frustration and lack of confidence in the lemmy developers at this point. Even those who try to contribute to the project get eventually feeling pushed out.
