hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Today is June 1st, the start of Pride Month. This scene from "Blood Oath" weighs heavily on my mind.English8·3 days agoMaybe it is something regarding the Bible? A Google search doesn’t bring an exact result for that quote but a bunch of different Bible verses are in the results however.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•Why did Richard Daystrom get a research organization named after them?English5·5 days agoDaystrom Institute is UFP, not Starfleet affiliated. Hence why those who work at Daystrom aren’t Starfleet.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•Why did Richard Daystrom get a research organization named after them?English7·6 days agoI didn’t notice this before but in Alpha canon Daystrom Institute was founded in 2256, before TOS. So this speech doesn’t make sense. The writer probably didn’t know that either.
EDIT: I need to clarify that this information is from “Chose Your Pain”, so it came along after “The Ultimate Computer”.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I like the man on his left reading the shirt9·10 days agoYou can find this on the album Inside Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry was asked to give an example of network notes. For context, just know Gene was a Humanist. He framed The Bible as if it was the script for a television show. Everything pretty much would have been deemed inappropriate.
I know we tease people in modern times who would criticize Jesus of Nazareth for how he has been historically known, but it is wild how a religious text would not been deemed acceptable for 60s or 70s television.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How long would a shuttle from Earth to Vulcan take?English2·11 days agoYeah, if you go back and watch the video I posted on YouTube, the welcome message that plays when you’re in line specifically says shuttle. It would’ve made more sense if they were runabouts but there’s no evidence that runabouts are even used during the period of Picard season 3.
Based on what I can remember from DS9, runabouts are faster and generally used for longer trips.
EDIT: Is the Federation even adhering to the warp five speed limit anymore? I know it doesn’t get addressed after “Force of Nature”, but is there anything suggesting that the speed limit has been dropped completely by the 25th century?
EDIT 2: The site I linked says 28.19 days.

At least I wasn’t attending a bat’leth tournament.
Excuse me but us Asians have been using air fryers since the 90s.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish8·17 days agoYep. Many people for example mistakenly think Los Angeles is near Disneyland.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish7·17 days agoIf only I had a transporter available.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish7·17 days agoI was coming from Riverside County.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish7·16 days ago🤭 Thanks. Unfortunately, unless I planned a better day to Agua Dulce (the city which Vasquez Rocks is located), I wouldn’t dare make the drive again. On a Saturday, there was so much traffic for the 64 mile drive.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish6·17 days agoI mean, Raffi lived here. Memory Alpha says the appearances in PIC are Vasquez Rocks, not a differently named location.

hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish7·17 days agoMany other episodes and not just TOS, filmed there.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Visited Vasquez RocksEnglish11·17 days agoNot this. This is pretty far removed from urban. 40 miles doesn’t seem like much unless you drove 2 hours to get there.
40 miles from Universal Studios that is.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Star Trek: Red Alert at Universal: Fan Fest NightsEnglish1·17 days agoI believe the plaque, as well as other parts of the set built for The Klingon Encounter (which was original to Star Trek: The Experience) had names of people who worked on it hidden throughout.
That is why I asked.
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Star Trek: Red Alert at Universal: Fan Fest NightsEnglish1·17 days agoAre you able to read the plaque? Does it match the one from the series (I can’t recall if they show it in “Vox” or “The Last Generation”) or might it have names of those who worked on Red Alert?
hopesdead@startrek.websiteOPto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Star Trek: Red Alert at Universal: Fan Fest NightsEnglish1·17 days agoMine is very worn down.
I added a magnetic Fansets made IDIC to mine.
This isn’t licensed nor are these based on actual in-show designs, but Anne Gregory makes some nice ones you can get on Etsy. Maybe this would be a better alternative? I wouldn’t know how to make an earring. https://www.etsy.com/shop/AnneGregoryJewelry
