they would have to have had a hell of a childhood
…lemmy has profiles and dms? didn’t actually know that.
reddit grew those after a huge influx of users demanded them, and i’ve still never understood why.
you seem to be under the impression that lemmy wants to be big. i can’t speak for the creators, but the vibe among users (except on .world) seems to be that not growing is preferable. changing the social media landscape? why? let people use what they want. why would there need to be an endgame?
like slashdot, digg, and reddit, lemmy is a link aggregator. the community is not the point, it is an emergent feature.
all the others on the list are america only
if a chicken could code, it would use CHICKEN.
yeah just using the same characters but “squished” doesn’t work since the serifs take up the character space. you need a font designed as proportional. slab serif just means that the serifs are squared rather than pointed like on Times.
i want serifs. I use Go Mono for monospaced text. i’ve yet to find a good proportional slab serif font to match though.
yeah but nobody in scotland would call bourbon whisky
with the rise of LSP, i feel that ides have become less necessary. get an editor that you like, add an LSP client if there’s not one built-in, then install the server for your language.
bourbon and water? eh
fun fact: IBM asked for, and got, an exception from that clause.
trying to not give too much away but this happened in my family. a relative who has quite severe autism and has been on benefits for something like 30 years (they are in their 60s) is not being given any money by their parents. the parents willed all their physical assets to their other child (with special clauses that the person should still be able to utilise them if they wish) and put any money they would have gotten into a trust that pays out monthly. the reasoning for this in that the person in question is unable to gauge the worth of money, and because they are constantly getting suckered into niche religious groups that want tithes (until they tire of their mannerisms and throw them out).
while it does sound ableist to say, i do really think this is for their own good. it falls on the rest of the family to look out for them now and we do try. both children did agree to this arrangement by the way.
carmageddon got a sequel a few years ago and nobody batted an eye. kinda makes you miss the old days.
hashtag not sponsored, my current razor is a Leaf. great little thing, it takes three single-sided blades (or 1.5 normal ones snapped it half) and is used just like a cartridge razor. it’s a bit expensive at €80 or so, but it’s completely metal so i expect it to outlast most other stuff in my bathroom.
i didn’t talk much to the people at my last place but i’m going to make an effort now that i’ve moved. seems like a good safety net to have in case something happens.
yeah if you’re not sure whether you’d be into it it’s better to not waste money :)
if you’re interested, check out the contraptions people are building to run steam turbines from geysers, or process oil, or extract metal from volcanoes. it’s crazy complicated stuff but if you’re into that it may win you over.
i think you don’t get the timer in free play mode. try doing the story on normal difficulty and see if that hooks you :)
you won’t get that from a balcony panel, that’s for sure.
honestly, off-grid solar systems meant to drive a house are a pain. you need something to provide a steady sine wave from the DC of the solar and batteries, and usually the best way to do that is the grid. if you want to be off-grid only some times, you need even more equipment to be able to properly synchronise when connecting.
