In 100 years people are gonna look back on these 'phobes in the same way that we look back at slave owners… ignoring the fact that a lot of the 'phobes would probably be okay with modern slaves anyways.

Apple@lemmy.world•iPad - Anyone else feel the only reason this still exists is because Apple is stubborn?
1·3 days agoIf I were using the Mini, it would be because of the pencil. And if they gave iPhones (especially Pro Max) Apple Pencil support, although the experience would be a bit better on an iPad Mini, would it really be worth it for most people to buy, charge, and bring an extra device everywhere?
But, because Apple won’t do that, it’s a good device for some people. 120hz would make it great.

1·3 days agoWell there’s no denying that’s inconvenient even if it’s what you prefer.
But why? I use a Leobog Hi75 on my PC which is a very thocky mech board, but I still appreciate the MacBook keyboard for being a decently satisfying keyboard especially considering how thin it is.

2·3 days agoI’ll admit it, if you don’t need MacOS to run software, iPad Pros are pretty great. But I wish they’d let us run external apps or MacOS apps!
My complaints start when you have to bring both along with you on the go. I think it should be one or the other.

3·3 days agoI wouldn’t feel like this if they give us the OPTION for the MacBook to replace the iPad by giving it a 180° touchscreen with Pencil support, or for the iPad to replace the MacBook by allowing us to run external apps or MacOS.
On second thought, this is not about at home. Actually, an iPad synergies pretty amazingly with the other devices when being over-encumbered or away from an outlet isn’t an issue!
It’s just that on the go, ANOTHER device to deal with is annoying. It’s like bringing an external keyboard to use with your laptop because the keyboard is broken. You wouldn’t have to if it worked fine in the first place.
That’s why it doesn’t fit my workflow and I wish they gave us other options.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Coming up with a showerthought is easy. Framing and Verifying one is hard.

5·4 days agolol I don’t know what any of these are supposed to mean. Love them for that though
Not sure what the intent behind this post is, and I know it’s cliche, but don’t fucking do it. Please

Do you usually get shadow banned or banned with the red banner? If it’s a shadow ban, you might still have a chance because almost all accounts created on VPN get shadow banned as soon as they post
Other than appealing on reddit.com/appeal (I think this is automated) and the help form, there is no way to get unbanned.
If we’re talking ban evasion? It’s pretty much impossible, at least if you’re not doing FBI levels of security.
They notice your IP is the same as a banned account? Immediate ban.
You try to get around this with a VPN? Immediate shadow ban. It won’t look like you’re banned but you will be.
They notice your device is the same on the mobile app? Immediate ban.
They notice your browser fingerprint is the same (same monitor setup, fonts installed, extensions, etc etc) on any device a banned account exists on? Immediate ban.
Take all of this into account and move to a different city, replace all your devices, and never have the associated accounts banned accounts on any of your devices again?
It will take weeks or months, but you will be permanently banned again. They used advanced machine algorithms to check if you are in similar small communities, type similarly, make similar posts, or use the account at similar times.
The only way to Reddit ban evade would be to move somewhere completely different, completely replace your device setup, never use an old account again, and never interact with more than 1 or 2 smaller communities on the entire website that you were on with one of your banned accounts.
TL;DR: There is essentially nothing you can do. Reddit ALWAYS will eventually find you. If the appeal doesn’t work (it almost always doesn’t) you will NEVER use Reddit again. It’s super saddening.
