My experience with Whataburger is that the food is mediocre, and if it weren’t for bad service, they’d have no service at all. In fact, there’s one Whataburger that I have failed to eat at twice because no one came to the counter both times I tried.
The person you replied to said
after I had 5 years to freeze dry enough shit to trade for concubines.
and you indicated that your sister would have enough of her own freeze-dried food that she wouldn’t need to trade for it. Thus, she is safe from being OP’s concubine.
Not to mention the tracking (ok, you mentioned cookie notices, but not the actual tracking) that will ultimately impact your social media feeds.
“Huh, my friend-across-the-aisle just posted something that contradicts my world view, but I’m not sure I trust that site. If I click on it, will my feed suddenly be flooded with more untrustworthy sources?”
It’s usually not worth the risk.
Your state can make laws that are more protective than the federal regulations. California does this frequently. Occasionally, it even trickles to other states because many companies do not want the burden of meeting different state regulations, so they just work with the one that works everywhere (assuming the market is big enough).
So… What can you do? Well, a month ago, I would have reiterated how important down-ballot voting is, but it’s a little late for that now. The voting populace has spoken.
Now what you can do is donate to causes that you support. Put pressure on your representatives. Write letters, make calls, etc. It will be exhausting. You will feel like you’re getting nowhere, but you never know what will get through.
It’s why everyone I know is so upset by the election. Not because “we” lost. That’s sad, but (hopefully) not the end of the world. It’s because we just got signed up for at least four years of constant effort and perpetual vigilance, just to keep the country from falling apart.
It’s a shame it doesn’t work on mobile
I tried Chrome and Firefox. I even switched to “Desktop version”, but no dice.
A quick Google search says that an expat usually only lives in a new place for a limited period of time. An immigrant moves to a new place with intent to settle.
Whether that’s how it’s used colloquially is another matter…
but be against assisted suicide
No free hand outs! You gotta work for your death!

In my state
Is it the state of Chaos?
Yeah, I definitely remember when they started showing things I didn’t ask for, and I thought “I don’t like that”, but I stuck around because I could ignore posts I didn’t care about.
It took a little while, but I eventually started to play “how far can I scroll before I get something I didn’t ask for?”
Shortly after that, I realized I actually had to start playing “how far until I get something I did ask for?”.
Once I realized that, I cut back significantly. I still go from time to time when I’m stuck waiting in line or something, but it broke my daily habit. I miss what it used to be, but I certainly don’t miss what it is.
How do you define “compete”?
Here they are on opposite corners of the same intersection.
Sure, that’s only one example, but I’m not sure how well I can Google “Kroger near an [Albertsons|Randalls|Safeway]” to find a list.
The transition from analog to digital really hurt my desire to watch OTA TV (you caught me! I’m not under 25).
With analog broadcast, any weak signal or interference produced a little bit of static, but you could still see and hear what was being said. With digital, any weak signal means dropped frames and silence or weird glitches. You completely lose what’s happening. Even with a powered antenna, I have frequent issues with weak signal. I could probably try to get a rooftop antenna installed, but there’s no guarantee it would be any better. It’s just easier to find other entertainment at this point.
“Roe v. Wade is settled law. They just use the issue to rile up their base. They’d never overturn it!” and other lies we tell ourselves…
Keep in mind that many red states have attempted to essentially ban online porn with their overbearing age-verification laws. A savvy internet user would be less likely to pick an exit node in a red state, given the choice.
