Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Self-hosting in 2026 isn't about privacy anymore - it's about building resistance infrastructureEnglish
51·3 days agoJust FYI unless you self-host headscale, tailscale is centralised and not private. They claim it is end to end encrypted but their proprietary centralised control server distributes the keys, so they could very easily MITM you.
Tailscale is good tech and good crypto, but Applied cryptography cannot solve a security problem. It can only convert a security problem into a key-management problem, and tailscale does not do decentralised key management.
It’s free on epic? Shit’s free in a toilet

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•We shouldn't have to go to college in order to afford a house by 30.
92·2 months agoYou need apartment buildings. Lots of them. Individual houses are extremely wasteful and isolate everyone from each other.

5·2 months agoNo it’s not. In France it’s just as much of a problem if you live in one of the big cities.

Technology@lemmy.world•Framework supporting far-right racists?English
211·3 months agoIt’s pretty plain on DHH’s blog:
In 2000, more than sixty percent of the city were native Brits. By 2024, that had dropped to about a third. A statistic as evident as day when you walk the streets of London now.
I wonder what characteristic he uses to define « native brits » that can be seen when walking.
Or just take a look at his twitter. Which Framework obviously did since they retweet a lot of his posts…

31·3 months agoGood thing the people here are not asking for the government to ban Omarchy/hyprland, but asking “normal people” to not associate with known assholes, which is a very normal thing to ask for. And defending your right to associate with assholes whitout being shamed about it makes you look very much like an asshole.

At least both projects funded by cloudflare support fascists. Omarchy is by DHH, who is not a good person

3·4 months agoIf you’re actually working out you don’t have blood flow to spare to have a boner…
And if as you say you can have a boner looking at sand it and don’t control it it seems to me like having topless women around shouldn’t influence that much the odds you get a boner.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Men can take their shirts off for hot days and exercise. Why can't women do the same in 2025?
6·4 months agoDude. If have enough remaining brainpower to ogle women at the gym and enough blood flow to spare to give you a boner I can assure you you’re barely working out.
Learn to focus.
That said, being topless (for both men and women) in a gym is gross. Don’t leave sweat everywhere. The question is for running outside…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Men can take their shirts off for hot days and exercise. Why can't women do the same in 2025?
12·4 months agoIn many countries in public spaces women can be topless wherever men can. Sadly it doesn’t mean they feel safe/comfortable doing so.

Yeah, let’s not touch one cent of the 221 billion € each year given to large corporations, and instead stop celebrating the victory against Nazism.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Americans overestimate the size of minority groups and underestimate the size of most majority groups

They use GPU based enclaves. They have a white paper available. I just seemed it but they mention AMD and NVIDIA enclaves.
They can’t get your username from your phone number (but they can b’get your phone number from your username)

Well they are a serious company with serious engineering capabilities. Just know that whoever runs the control server can control your network, and almost everyone uses Tailscale’s centralised control server, so they control the networks of almost all of their customers. Most of their customers are for internal use by companies which don’t care about relying on SaaS products. But if you self-host for resilience, using Tailscale doesn’t make much sense without also self-hosting the control server through the unofficial headscale implementation.
