Torres@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•If you value privacy, ditch Chrome and switch to Firefox nowEnglish2·2 years agoI completely agree, I don’t find it difficult at all. But I have already tried to recommend it to a couple of friends and just having to go through those first steps was enough for them not to want to use Lemmy.
Torres@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•If you value privacy, ditch Chrome and switch to Firefox nowEnglish41·2 years agoI’m sorry, I don’t know if “general user” means what I think it means. English is not my first language.
What I meant was that most people who use the internet and social media on a regular basis aren’t exactly nerdy/tech-savvy. So as soon as you start talking to them about federated instances and whatnot, they lose interest.

It’s too weird for the general user

Torres@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Sweden charges Greta Thunberg for blockading oil portEnglish25·2 years agoOne relatively recent and quite expensive alternative would be electric cars. But I don’t really see that as a real, permanent solution, for that you would need a good railway/tram system, which sadly isn’t all that common all around the world
Oh okay, that makes sense. I just assumed it was a screenshot of the app, but if they’re using a web browser, it’s easily doable.
How does that even happen?
Torres@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's your solution to end all wars?52·2 years agoI feel like this is the way. It’s more or less the idea with the EU, and I would say it’s working great. I just hope this level of cooperation reaches the whole world
Torres@lemmy.worldto Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What books are you reading at the moment?1·2 years agoI’m currently reading The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott. It’s part of the High Republic saga of Star Wars, and I’m really enjoying it so far :D
It was quite a challenge to read a book in English for the first time with Light of the Jedi (the first book of the series). But I feel like I’ve gotten way better and can now understand more while reading faster.
After this, I’m planning on reading The Prince of Milk by Exurb1a. Which I have wanted to read for a long time.
Torres@lemmy.worldto Science@beehaw.org•Study in mice links heat-damaged DNA in food to possible genetic risks1·2 years agoI don’t know if I could do that honestly. I tried once but I love meat way too much. I think I’m going to reduce my meat consumption to once per week or so, and as soon as lab grown meat catches on, I’m only going to eat that kind of meat.
Torres@lemmy.worldto Futurama @lemmy.world•What is/are your least favorite character(s)? Unpopular opinions welcome.English1·2 years agoOh no you didn’t just say that
Torres@lemmy.worldto Science@beehaw.org•Study in mice links heat-damaged DNA in food to possible genetic risks5·2 years agoDamn I eat meat almost everyday. I guess I should start a vegetarian diet .-.

Sadly, I haven’t found a way to do it. It would be a great feature
