Woke up on Monday and my Pixel 6 Pro wasnt quite fitting in the case while i was checking news while having coffee on the morning. Pushed it in and it didnt seem to fit right. Took the case off to find it had turned itself into a spicy pillow and was splitting along the side. Was 1 month inside warranty, messaged support who told me it was wear and tear initially. I made it quite clear i wasnt accepting that and there wasnt even any way that internal adhesive failing would be wear and tear, never mind battery expansion. They agreed to replace it with a refurb as a goodwill gesture, how very nice of them. I upgraded the same day to a S23 Ultra and have sold the refurb to a reseller.

    Googles warranties are the worst. I bought a pixel 7a, and within 5 weeks it died. They would not fix it or return it because it was outside the 30 days, but they did have a year manufacturer warranty. However, when an authorized repair shop I took it in noticed a small little scratch where the case snapped on, they wouldn’t honor it. Don’t ever get a warranty from Google for anything, they’re awful.

      My Google Pixel 5 broke less than thirty days after the warranty expired. The screen just turned off, there was nothing else wrong with the phone. No scratches, no water exposure, nothing. Google has turned into a crooked business

        My new 6 pro was broken out of the box. Google support said not to worry about it because it was still under warranty so I could get a refurbished replacement for $60! I had to demand they escalate it all they would send me a new one.

        full of shit. you can take it to a repair place partnered with Google and they’ll give you a new screen straight up. It was free, in and out.

              It was the place Google referred me to, they’re under contract to work on Google phones. I didn’t pay them, I just switched phones. You’re a very rude and aggressive person, I can’t imagine that does you any favors in the real world.

            The UK isn’t even in the EU.

            Pixel 7 Pro was discounted to like €600 for a long time on Dutch carriers.

            The US also has taxes but those are not shown on the US site.

            I don’t know what else to tell other than go live in an actual EU country for a while, especially with the weird tangent about healthcare.

      my phone screen broke on my pixel 6 after 5 months (to water damage of all things) and Google payed for it at the phone repair place i went to lol, with no questions. this is complete bullshit. make sure to research before blindly accepting random comments. (even this one, just do your research!)

      The Nexus 5 was their peak.

      The Nexus 6 created the term “phablet”, and then they had the 5X which was a great disappointment, and the updated phablet, the 6P.

      Pretty much everything leading up to the 5 was better than what came before it, each release felt like movement in the right direction. Then we got the 5, and it was golden.

      Then the 6 came out and everyone was confused, and the 5X/6P just made things worse…

      It was 23 months old, last month of warranty thankfully. Couple of weeks later and it would have been a total loss. I pretty much exclusively wireless charged during which i noticed it would sometimes get very warm. Ironically the primary method of charging being wireless was at least in part to prevent damage to the port with repeated cable insertion.

        I recall hearing something about strain on one side of the battery increasing if you only recharge it wirelessly, but I’m not sure how correct that is. I’ve been hesitant to use a wireless charger for awhile because of that.

        Have you found that phones in the past were getting clogged, scratched or mangled somehow from the cable insertion? I had a Samsung A50 lose its entire screen as it gradually turned purple over the course of 2 weeks. One morning the whole screen turned purple and then pixel death propagated like concentric circles in a lake while skipping rocks.

        It was terrible. I lost my ability to log into my phone the usual way and ahve yet to recover the data on it. Got a Samsung S10 for a quick replacement which the screen broke on one drop… The Pixel has been great so far though. Hope you got a replacement. What are you using now?

          Just seen too many devices get wear on the cable port from repeated insertion eventually leading to dry solder joints / poor connections, which obviously is eliminated by wireless. Especially as i tend to keep devices vertical on desk and bedside for seeing notifications, so upright chargers would be held in place by the cable port.

    My brother brought 3 of these for his family & they have had nothing but issues with them. If they aren’t overheating, they are rebooting for no apparent reason.

    It seems to be hit or miss. My wife and I have both had Nexus 6p, Pixel OG XL, Pixel 3a, and are currently using release day Pixel 6s. We haven’t had any issues with ours.

      Dang my wife just gave up her pixel 2. It was lasting forever it actually still works fine just the battery doesn’t last very long. She’s got a pixel 7 now. The guy at Koodo had never even seen a pixel 2 lol.

    Samsung is known for their spicy pillows. You see that mrwhosetheboss video where he shows all the Samsungs he’s ever had puffed up, despite the numerous other phones subject to the same conditions not doing that.

    I loved my Pixel 6 Pro. Really. It was so much better than the One Plus 8 Pro I had before and which I am currently write this on.

    …because the Pixel started to flicker greenish with full power when the display was low. Really nice to get your retina burned out in bed like that.

    It took me a week to even get a repair ticket open with them as it was sending me to the wrong country page and then back to the main page when correcting that…even the support agent couldn’t fix that initially.

    Now we will wait and see if they repair it.
