Nintendo’s eShop is a mess. Because it puts the shovelware next to everything else.

Steam isn’t so bad. I rarely find it unless I’m in the dark recesses of a tag. And whenever im curious if what shovelware exists, I just visit indiegala.

I thought consoles had their long winded certification processes? Do they not catch these types of games there?

Console certifications only check that a game is functional and meets platform requirements (like achievements, peripheral support, accessibility).

They’re there to ensure a game works and won’t brick any systems or steal bank details etc. They don’t typically check that a game is ‘good’, since it’s so subjective.

Sony made efforts to improve that because people like you complained about the process. And now here we are.

        “people like you”

People asking about their certification process?

Even if I was complaining, Sony should want to improve their process without the need of it.
