Question: does that mean everyone with gills can breathe under water? I imagine they must be pretty decent at swimming, too.

No worries. With enough functioning gills, you don’t need to be a decent swimmer to breath under water. You can sit at the ground all day and still get enough oxygen. You might still get hungry and swimming can help to get food, but there’s also the option to filter feed so no worries there either.

Without gills, tho, it is highly advisable to be able to swim so you can reach the surface in time to breath.

Is this engagement bait to trigger some of us to point out the difference between breath and breathe? Well I’m not falling for it. Edit: damnit I left a comment. You got me.

Brother, you are confused. You are supposed to breathe oxygen by absorbing it through your gills. Air has WAY more oxygen than water. What you need to do is get out of the polluted ocean and get into the fresh clean air.

Don’t be all namby-pamby by sticking out just you head either. You got to commit and jump clean out. There is no going back either, once you taste that sweet air bother you can’t go back.
