Cooking my dinner, best set a timer because I’m bound to forget it’s in the over.

Get bored and start reading book.

Timer’s done - I’ll turn off the alarm and just finish the page.

Ten minutes later …Wait, what’s that burning smell?

I hit the exact same issue - so I refuse to turn off the alarm until I’m actually doing the thing. Eventually the distraction of the continous alarm pisses me off that I give up on my task.

That’s why I turn off the oven at the same time. Even if I forget the food in there for a few minutes or a weekend or whatever, at least it’s not making the house smell bad.

We once came home from a two week vacation to an awful smell. We’ve forgotten a pasta dish in the (turned off) oven.
