What’s everyone’s thoughts on the 17 beta? It’s been super stable for me and it’s feeling polished already. For me I think the new standby mode while charging is the best new feature in a long tone. Makes this device more useful even when you’re not using it, smart stuff.

Absolutely love standby. It feels like one of those features it should have always had! I also love that it can function as a kind of bed time do not disturb mode. I’ve only tried it in an alarm clock context so far but it’s great for that!

The automated groceries list in reminders is also a game changer for me.

The autocorrect/keyboard updates have been great!

The UI changes in Messages are awesome! I love finally being able to name non-iMessage group messages. I wish the ability to tap-back with stickers was a thing at this point.

Car Play updates are subtle, but nice overall. I wish I had another device with the beta to test out the Share Play feature because it seems pretty straightforward.

Not too many other noticeable/memorable changes though. I’ve been using it since β1, and the current version does feel the most stable so far.

I didn’t notice a massive difference in the keyboard yet. I usually swipe instead of type so I don’t seem to get any of those word predictions

I also love the new iMessage! Finally can swipe to reply a message!

I have also turned on the function to remind you that your phone is too close. Although it is quite annoying as I do hold it quite close, it serves as a good reminder that I need to pull my phone a bit away from me and my eyes do feel less tired!

I haven’t tried it yet, but with past Betas, I usually would not head into them at this point, too much risk it would have work-day impacting bugs but if it’s stable maybe I’ll give it a try. I really want to try WatchOS and you can’t do that without iOS

The biggest thing I’ve noticed is that spotlight search is wicked fast now, makes me actually want to use it.

Live voicemail (or whatever it’s called) is pretty cool but i don’t get enough calls to feels it’s presence.

The live voicemail transcription looks like it will be very useful. Back in the 90s it was common to come home to the sound of someone leaving a message on the answering machine and being able to pick up the phone to talk to the person. This will bring that back. I always thought it was kind of clunky when you’d just miss picking up a call, then call back while the person was leaving a voicemail. This should be a lot more smooth.

Interactive widget will also be nice. It should have been that way from the start.

Meh, I haven’t really noticed anything different or improved compared to iOS 16 but I’ve only spent a day or two with 17.

@xe3 @ProdigyXL That was my first impression as well. Wondered what all the fuss was about, but I’ve found that it builds on you. Been on iOS 17 since the beginning & tried iOS 16 over the weekend. It was horrible. Seemed really outdated.

Looks like it’s full of features that I’ll never use. Feel like the media is trying to execute a psyop by making it seem more interesting than it actually is.
