i.e. “Communism is when the government owns your toothbrush!”
Fact: The government owning your toothbrush has nothing to do with communism.
“Thank goodness the economic system I advocate for has nothing to do with the government owning your toothbrush, and therefore is, by the definition of ‘communism is when the government owns your toothbrush’, definitely not communism and is instead ‘your toothbrush is yours and yours alone’-ism.”
This is in the context of a “Victims of Communism” monument, though. Generally these are real states operating along Communist principles, but with exaggerations of numbers, inclusions of fascists like the Nazis killed during WWII, etc to make it seem like, say, the USSR “killed 100 million people” or whatever new number the liberals dream up. They aren’t saying the USSR isn’t Socialist, they are saying it is, and that that’s bad because of xyz exaggeration and lie, etc.
