I have no idea and I’m not too invested. I don’t really care for how long, or if, or if not, if it works it works and if it doesn’t there’s more to life.

I wasnt doing much there anyway other than my local subs which i browse for 5 to 10 minutes a day on the pc.

i open a few subs every so often to find more netflix shows to watch or see if my games have been updated with new drama & then i leave.

I know :) I’m partially kidding. I tried kbin. The UI was too weird for me. That’s actually the main reason I didn’t use it. It felt less customizable. I had a hard time not seeing just the defaults. In fact I’m not sure in all this time I’ve subbed to anything from my kbin acc.

There’s a reason why I don’t use kbin. Well, two. 1. Kbin federation sucks and is weird as fuck and keeps turning off and on, and 2. Where API, I script the shit out of everything, API pls. Apiiiiiii

Lemmy had much fewer moderation tools. It’s not the lack of mod tools. In fact, mod tools are still alive because reddit delayed their death for a week or so. The problem, more than mod tools, is behavior and demographic changes.

I procrastinated work for 2 straight weeks when lemmy came out. Deadline is now past and I’m still deep into the task and being threatened with retaliation for not finishing on time. 🤔 That had never happened to me with reddit at all, not even close.

how does my home instance influence the loading speed of content from a different instance

lemmy world has like 85k ppl, lemmy ml has like 50k ppl, this means that there’s potentially tens of thousands of people browsing at the same time making requests to the lemmy.ml and lemmy.world servers, or whichever home server their instance is hosted on. If the server is not big enough to stand it, it becomes slow while it processes the bulk of the requests. Smaller instances have fewer people, which means that there’s fewer active people and servers have an easier job when they must process the requests of all of their users.

suggestion: go to a smaller instance, you will not have lag :) the reason why lemmy world has a lot of lag is because it has almost 100k ppl, i see all the same content as you do and my instance has like 4k.

adblock everything except content on mobile browser, that’s how i used to do it, nowadays i don’t use reddit much so idk how it would go with the new status, i know they returned the old mobile web app but they may have removed access to nsfw on it. i even adblocked awards, chat, anything that wasn’t vanilla reddit.

Me, using cleaned-up reddit on browser is the only way I’d use it. I preferred it even to RIF sometimes.
