DaddleDew@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•China opposes any deals between US, other nations at its expenseEnglish68·5 days agoTrump picked a fight with the biggest kid in the school right after insulting and backstabbing all his friends. Now he’s crawling back begging his friends to come and help him.
If Trump wants the US’s ex-allies to help, he better step down from the presidency. It is the only way I see anyone willing to help the US right now.

The only reason why he does it is because he sees it as an occasion to gain an advantage somehow.
DaddleDew@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•A 'US-Made iPhone' Is Pure FantasyEnglish322·17 days agoOnly $4000 for the entry model. That’s how much it costs once the tariffs on the semiconductors that you simply cannot produce in the country for at least 10 more years even if you tried has been covered, the salaries high enough to motivate people to willingly work the assembly lines now that immigrant workers are gone, and the markup needed to cover the cost of completely creating an entire supply chain from scratch as well as paying back the insane debt that results from the outrageous high risk investments this would require and that frankly no investor would want to touch with a 10 foot pole.

I can’t wait to see his reaction to that.

But Musk has placed people who are loyal to him on the board. That’s how he stole the company from its original founders and this is how he’ll be allowed to run the company into the ground as if he owned it.

You lovely people won’t believe the tremendous wealth that is coming. And if it doesn’t and you end up starving and homeless it is because of Biden.”

That will piss off a lot of Americans.

Trump is a Putin simp.

DaddleDew@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Canada is buying advertising in the US (seen in Florida)7·1 month agoYes, that and also Trump seems to count on his supporters not understanding who will end up paying for those tariffs by misleading them into believing other countries will pay for those tariffs for them.
Meanwhile Canadian elected officials have been very upfront about the rough times ahead. But unlike Americans, Canadians are motivated, united and have a strong will to weather the storm.
The way Trump does it also hurts his own country’s economy even more because he has made it clear that no country is safe from unpredictable tariffs. Investors hate unpredictability. They’ll take their money elsewhere. And on top of that he’s doing it with multiple countries at the same time, which is an even dumber thing to do because the effects of all the countries retaliatory tariffs will be cumulative.
DaddleDew@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Canada is buying advertising in the US (seen in Florida)9·1 month agoOf course. It’s how a tariff war works.

DaddleDew@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Trump reportedly growing angry over ongoing Russia-Ukraine aerial strikesEnglish43·1 month agoHe promised something that wasn’t his to give. Then did the absurdly naive and ill-informed decision to attempt to negotiate with Putin by assuming against overwhelming evidence that Putin respects him and that he’d act out of good faith if he approached him in a position of submission and weakness. Now the Russians are taking advantage of it.
I bet Putin “promised” Trump he’d give him that win and now he’s just using it as a carrot on a stick to lead him along.
DaddleDew@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How exactly are people lighting Teslas on fire?63·1 month agoIf I ever got tired of my car and wanted to burn it down somewhere safe and legal to do it, I’d do it the same way as it is usually done for any kind of car: break the window, douse the inside with a flammable liquid and light it up. I’d also have to be very careful while lighting it because if the flammable fumes have time to build up inside before being lit, it could explode and injure the person lighting it.
Additionally, if anything Fail videos have taught me is that fooling around with flammable liquids and fire can quickly go very bad. I would also have a friend with a natural fiber blanket nearby just in case.
“Wait a minute. Are we the baddies?”
