Yeah Proton is definitely the way to go over using Wine directly. Valve has put a ton of work into making it seamless. I have a large steam library and have found literally only one game (Destiny 2) that doesn’t work. And that’s just because Bungie has gone out of their way to make sure it won’t run on Linux for “anti cheating” reasons.

I’ve gotten a lot of freezing and stuttering playing on my desktop PC (Linux with Proton). The deck actually seems to be more stable, though it is locked to 30 fps and textures still take a minute to load sometimes.

I’ve been playing it on steam deck, it’s definitely playable but I wouldn’t call it smooth.

Stealth has always been optional in Assassin’s Creed. The modern games have a lot of problems (the series really hasn’t been good since Black Flag) but that one in particular isn’t new. Trying to be stealthy makes every mission take twice as long, but imo it also makes them more fun.

Someone else mentioned VR games, if you can afford the gear I second that recommendation. Some games can be quite the workout, and it doesn’t feel like I’m convincing myself to exercise because I’m just playing video games.

Depends on the game, but I usually sort my player inventories by item purpose. Items that never leave the inventory (quest items, alternative gear, etc) at the top, then potions/food, then ammunition, then whatever random loot I’m picking up.

As far as Valheim goes, I actually really enjoy building highly organized dedicated storage rooms with for all my loot. My brain makes the good chemicals when I go into the storage closet and see my neatly labeled chests (now why won’t it do that in real life?). It’s worth noting that the chest size issue gets much, much better further on in the game. You go from 10 items per chest to 24 when you get access to iron, and 32 with black metal.
