This is part of my problem. My wife has medical issues and can’t work which is exaserbated by our higher than typical medical costs. It sucked before but we managed and now it seems like the end.

This is a pretty good example of why I say even millinoaires and billionaires should support a functional democractic society with taxation and regulation and social safety nets. Its the old penny wise and pound foolish. Getting a sliver more and a sliver more and then you lose it all because the rule of law was thrown out long ago. It won’t necessarily take that long to. At a certain point it could happen at any time. Maybe it will. Maybe it won’t.

Meh. They are fine in moderation but whole communities just about them is to much for me. Its like I block all sports ones to and im not 100% uninterested in sports but its not something I keep up with daily or even weekly.

Yeah I was just explaining why I think the disconnect shows up between percentage and the number. Its why as you get to the end each percentage become significant as it means just a bit more insulation, batter size, panel efficiency, appliance efficiency might bridge the gap. You get in the nineties and its that one most brutal month that it can’t handle.

62 percent could be 7 months all the time and 5 never right? So if those 4 months only get you 20% but the others give you ninety something. When I see that 62 I see it as over half the year it will work out good.

I definately feel this way. Outside of the federation my use of the net now is just paper work, technical work, meida streaming, and video games. Which is a lot of but the fediverse goes tits up and nothing like it comes to pass my only social media involvment will be as necessary (my condo has a facebook page and job searching sites are technically [and creepily] social media but I just put in applications and don’t look at the feed I don’t want.)

I mean there is place in between highly skeptical and anti. I think its a faster and more convenient search as long as it gives sources and it makes creating and editing media easier. I don’t like the energy usage and do like work bringing that down. Its just trying to get it to solve things on its own that seems to be pushed when we can clearly see it not working when used like that. I think the biggest issue is its crammed in as a solution and it works in the most half assed manner and they want to say that fine.

I had a somewhat similar things while waiting at a bank a some months back. I don’t remember the details of the convo but I was wearing a mask which got this old lady asking if I was liberal in a somewhat insulting way (your one of those X type or such). I spoke with her about things and I remember asking if she knew how X worked which again it may have been like progessive taxation but may also have been about a particular political process. Anyway the funny thing is I would say something like don’t you think X in regards to these things and she would mostly agree. Here is the thing. She does not understand how things work, me talking to her im almost sure only brought understanding briefly and I doubt she will retain it, and im 100% that moment she was gone from that interaction she want back to default. I have not yet met a maga person who was knowledgeable about how government and laws work (when they are excersized properly) and most seem to have mental issues. This is why these blatant abuse of powers don’t even phase them. You know I was talking with my brother how maybe it was sorta nice that many folks used to not vote as many of those disinterested in politics can’t really make very good decisions. I think what maga did was make it entertaining enough to get these people to the poles. Its a social thing to them.

Thats not people giving up comfort, that is them losing it. Nobody will rebel due to self sacrifice. Many act to rebel from loss of things that don’t directly cause discomfort but they have the cognitive ability to see the long term consequences that will come of it.

Its easier because your costs are forward rather than in arears. You can’t move before you sell the house because then you will have to pay on it while your trying to figure out expenses in a new place. You need to sell it for more than you owe and you will then need to find temporary housing where you will not have any costs if you need to leave at any particular time which tends to be more expensive. You will need to downsize to a backpacker level as part of this. Not just you but your family. Then you will be applying to try to get somewhere else which may or may not happen. You can start that before but then you might just have to abandon everything. If one has nothing to lose the process is easier. Similarly if you want to have a similar lifestyle in the new country you will have to find an equivalent and likely harder to find job in the new country.

I mean its what they want. This whole thing is not about getting rid of folks as much as making sure any folks coming in are ready to bend the knee and actively support the bs. At a minimum stay silent but that may not be enough. Need to loud the ones in power and how good and just they are. Basically the ideal is north korea.

I don’t think people need to give up comfort. At least not to any reasonable level. We need to make it so that we are doing things efficiently. Passive housing using geothermal/solar/wind and such. People able to afford to live where they can be carless.

Actually the lower class has a bit better chance. If you have no home to sell or money to transfer over leaving is a bit easier. If you have enough to set yourself up and then sell what you have that makes it easy. So its like people barely affording their mortgages or have decent jobs that would be hard to replace that get stuck until its to late.
