  • I wouldn’t mind the flood of spam, right-wing nonsense, and guesstimated content in the browsing streams quite so much if I at least there was a useful bias for seeing what people on my friends’ & subscribed lists were posting, but NOOoooo… (cue John Belushi)

    At this point they’ve hilariously turned their own product in to something that doesn’t hold even the slightest bit of value for me, anymore. I really need to send Zuck a nice gift-basket of elephant dung for doing me that helpful favor. 😊

  • What’s spammy about it, if I may ask?

    I didn’t realise keyboards of this type came so small, and the trackpad seems like a nice touch. So it was fun for me to see.

    @DarkAri@lemmy.blahaj.zone,
    That said, there’s almost no way this would be useful for me, unless it was an emergency or something. I have fairly thin fingers, and still, just typing on an 11"x4" mini-keyboard is a chore.

    But in terms of space-savers, those 3-pc portable, folding keyboards seem like they would be pretty nice. Based on what I’m seeing, they’re ~15"x5" unfolded, and ~8.5" wide folded-up. Almost the size of a regular keyboard when in use.

  • Upgrading to a Win11 machine to beat the mid-October deadline was my deal. Just about every associated hardware item needed to be replaced, and there were a bunch of small issues with the various new stuff, including me completely forgetting that a network switch is NOT a router, even though they look similar. Building a rolling, swiveling platform arm for a new monitor I needed to sit next to my bed/couch was one of the last major hurdles. Bonus pts for the new machine being hilariously tiny, to the tune of ~"5x"2x"5, but it got great reviews, and I’m loving it so far.

    So yeah, moving up to a faster, more capable system is always a treat in the end, but getting everything migrated properly and deciding what software to reinstall and what to upgrade can be a process that takes weeks, or more. Note: the “VirusTotal” site has been a big help in feeling much more secure about my new install choices.

    Couldnt remember debit pin and its annoyed me for a long time

    A few years back, I had that problem not with the PIN, but with my online PW. I’d somehow forgotten it, and wound up calling customer support for help, getting a live person to talk to. They asked me a couple personal questions, I answered, and they solved the issue within minutes. I imagine they would have done something similar with PINs.

    These days, with CS being increasingly automated and/or farmed out to other countries, I’m not sure if that would work so easily, anymore.
