  • Reminds me of the time I created the Triple Whopper for all of Germany. The Burger King in the Cologne Main Station had a “Your Way” section where you could make them assemble a Whopper exactly how you want it Subway style.

One day I encountered an especially enthusiastic cook and asked her for three patties instead of the maximum of two they had on the menu. She obliged me and also put on a ton of salad and onions and lots of love. I’ve never had a better Whopper in my life.

Anyways, she didn’t know what to charge me so she just pulled a number out of her arse and let me pay that. A few months later the Triple Whopper appeared on the menu at a much higher price point than what I paid. I like to think that it’s my fault.

  • Warwick Davis. Every time I saw him at cons he was super nice.

One time he was holding a panel down in front of the stage because on the stage the acoustics sucked. So while he was answering some question or so one of the handlers brought him a glas of water and put it on the edge of the stage. Shortly thereafter Warwick went to get the water but the stage was just about tall enough that he couldn’t reach, even with jumping. He took it with humor, the handler was more embarrassed about it.

  • Honestly, it just works or not works as much as other operating systems. I’ve just come to like its way of working or not working more than others. I get it. When something doesn’t work the symptoms usually let me know where to look for a fix.

By now this comes down to experience and the ability to read and understand error messages.

When I watch people online in videos messing up with Linux it usually seems to be due to them not reading correctly and ignoring vital information, skipping stuff or trying to alter some process in a misguided way. See Linus Sebastian entering “yes, do as I say” without realising that the system is trying to keep him from making a fatal mistake.
