  • Digital art. Potentially expensive at first, but if you already have a working computer, tablet, or even a phone, all you need¹ is to buy a drawing tablet, which can have a screen or not², and the screenless ones are way cheaper!

When it comes to software, I’d recommend Krita or ibisPaint (for phones) which are free (Krita is free and open-source - no ads, ibisPaint is free as in “it costs $0 but has ads”). There are lots of other software for digital art, and basically everything other than Adobe software (🤮) shouldn’t be super expensive.

¹ You can use a mouse or a touchscreen instead if you can’t buy a drawing tablet - they’re not great to draw with but still viable for the hobby.

² You’d think a screenless tablet would be hard to get used to, but after some practice you get used to it.

  • Because Windows customization was too hard and weird. To install a custom theme, I had to browse DeviantArt for some god forsaken reason(???) and trust this random person’s theme, which could contain malware for all I knew! I just wanted to choose colors and change transparency!

Stupid default software: What’s up with Micro$oft Edge? Why do they push it so hard? Just let me set Firefox as the default browser for everything! I want to be able to uninstall things I don’t want on my system, and use whatever apps I want.

So, around 2022, I tried Linux Mint and fell in love with it. I’d heard Apple devices were pretty locked down so the thought of buying a Mac hadn’t crossed my mind (I could not afford one anyways).

I then went on to, over time, try other distros, such as: ArcoLinux (now discontinued), Debian, Artix, KDE Neon, Void, and nowadays I run NixOS on my desktop and Arch on my laptop. (I did try Fedora Sway for a few hours before installing Arch on my laptop though).

  • Yes, but also not really? Not sure if enabling “Keep Inventory” counts as cheating in survival Minecraft or if it counts as a play style. Of course creative mode is only cheating when you use it in a world that was meant for survival, but I haven’t done that. Really unsure what counts as cheating in Minecraft singleplayer to be honest.

Other games: no, not really, I don’t even know how to cheat in Hollow Knight for example, Universe Sandbox is fully a sandbox game so you can’t cheat, and…

Oh wait, I guess I did use Assist Mode in Celeste once? I think that counts as cheating since I didn’t really need assist mode at all I was just frustrated and wanted to have fun. Yeah, sometimes I cheat actually. It’s fun in singleplayer and doesn’t ruin the game for anyone else.
