  • As a former elementary school teacher, I fully agree. IXL is decent for skill reinforcement but falls short when it comes to teaching new content and principles. It turns out most students benefit from learning in a group where another student might not get the content initially and ask clarifying questions and have the teacher repeat, rephrase, and reteach. Or classmates work in pairs or small groups and teach each other, for example. IXL was great for practice and did allow the teacher additional flexibility to work with students who needed more help or a more personalized approach, but I would not want my students to exclusively use it.

I have not had much luck with dating apps, so a friend and I attended a local speed dating event when we turned 30. Apparently it was advertised on a dating app and is run by a company that does events for singles.

Anyway it was exactly like you described - a series of awkward interviews with strangers I didn’t click with, some of whom tuned out after a couple of minutes and you could tell they were just waiting for the next person. Many were people who had just moved to the state/country.

Any other option for meeting people would probably be better than attending a speed dating event imo

  • Journalists […] suggest the upcoming GPU could cost around $1900. Manufacturers have allegedly been told anywhere from $1899 to $1999 will be the expected range, lining up with pricing rumors from last month.

For reference, the RTX 4090 launched at $1599 for its Founder’s Edition but has since crept up to nearly $2000 or more for overclocked cards.

Ouch. I was a sap who built my first gaming rig in 2015 and I thought I was dumb for buying a Titan X (Maxwell) for $999. Hard to fathom paying double that for one GPU
