  • called a video game, but I feel like that’s for lack of a better term

Its the perfect term for it, your definition of “game” is likely incomplete:

A game is a structured type of play, usually undertaken for entertainment or fun, and sometimes used as an educational tool

Note that it’s usually for fun, but does not need to be. Flower is a game by that definition. ETA: I also actually had fun playing Flower on my Vita back when it was new so…

Adding “video” to it is probably the weaker part of the phrase, “digital” is probably more accurate but I doubt people are going to change terminology like that for something so minor

  • Trying to hold onto my desire to play FFXIV since I have a personal large house and years invested

But honestly the recent expansion having the worst story we’ve seen in a final fantasy ANYTHING alongside multiple staff members pretending Wuk Lamat’s voice acting was acceptable (and the large portion of the player base that will call you a transphobe for that opinion) has me seriously considering if this is the end of the line for me

Tried picking up GW2 but tank controls disgust me

and then suddenly switch to another character it can feel kind of melancholic

Its not that sudden, Ciri was playable in Witcher 3 at times and the ending that has to be canon for her to be the W4 Protag leaves Geralt alive and old, and if you count B&W the owner of a vineyard where he can chill with his girl of choice, so they don’t even need to kill him off

“He’s old and hangs out in Toussaint now, he sends Ciri letters” would be easy to do

  • I think it’s also used to refer to revving up one’s motorcycle

Specifically a hog is a Harley (or really any touring bike now), large, slow turning, and they start with H, and yeah you could call racing the engine (the vroom vroom throttle thing) cranking, though that’s more of an action on older motorcycles you’d do to actually start the thing

The term from male masturbation actually comes from crank-start engines

  • Ask a quantum chip how to cure a disease?

No, that’s not how that works at all

You really think the chips actually understand diseases?

    Nope

We’re gonna end up with a whole new generation of people that have no clue how the shit works to begin with.

Projecting? Its very clear you have no idea how this stuff works, that’s for sure

Granted that AI and quantum computing aren’t quite the same thing

They aren’t the same at all

Future generations will have the ability to just ask a computer how to generate cure a disease

    Almost certainly an impossibility

  • It’s hardly intrusive, no pop ups or “hey I’m here” notifications. You can uninstall most of them in seconds without special tools.

If that’s your definition of bloatware then this point:

Android crapware is much more deeper, it’s not stuff your grandma can uninstall.

Is pretty silly as Android has less apps built into the OS, and I can actually go into settings and disable them very easily. Specific phone carriers might add bullshit on top of that, but that’s not Android doing that

  • Why do we humans even think we need to solve these extravagantly over-complicated formulas in the first place?

Because those questions could do things like cure disease or help us better understand the universe or a million other things

Shit, we’re in a world today where kids are forgetting how to spell and do basic math on their own, no thanks to modern technology.

Not because of it, either. This research isn’t really related to that kind of tech, either

Just because we can, doesn’t necessarily mean we should. We’re gonna end up with a new generation of kids growing up half dumb as a stump, expecting the computers to give us all the right answers.

This isn’t going to be for daily normal use, you’re projecting fear at the wrong tech
