The few times I paid for it, the solutions were often wrong as well. Very infuriating.

TIL as well. It went public back in 2021 just a year before the GenAI craze.
Hopefully by then we have full mirrors of YT. Maybe PeerTube would be viable replacement
On mobile, I don’t use the app. I use safari + youtube.com with vinegar app and adguard.
No ads plus I get PIP. Quality is a hit or miss but idc about that.
Band or label probably revoked streaming rights on Google Music.
Seems pp rolled this “feature” out to USA only due to our lax regulations on privacy. Another user (in Canada) pointed out the option was not seen in Profile & Data
Page mentions “Notice of Amendment(s) to the United States PayPal Agreement(s)”. So it’s likely US only (for now).
If you don’t see the “Data and Privacy” option to opt out on their website or app. Then it’s likely they are not sharing your data, yet.
US has been playing catch up for decades. FedNow was implemented in 2023 to allow instant P2P payments between banks thereby eliminating the need for PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, et al.
It will take some time before we see banks make this fully available to everyone and subsequently merchants using it.
Imagine being so poor you can’t buy the physical media, rip it to your media server, and stream at anytime.
Lol, enjoy your shitty subpar streaming service that serves media at less than 4K while paying increasing monthly costs.
I also suspect there’s a dark pattern where the subscriber just forgets it is on autopay.
I want to hope that the person that posted this screenshot disabled auto renewal.
Yet the person continues to pay it every single year.
The only subscription that I pay for is subsidized by my cellular provider. Otherwise, my subscriptions would be $0 per month.
I have been exploring self hosting my email.
Docker mail server for backend. Roundcube for web ui
Still keeping accounts at mainstream providers though as backup, especially for outgoing mail.
I am just waiting for a malware developer or state actor to use this as a way to infect computers with 0-days.
This is a disaster. Why anybody would decide to use Windows for any serious workloads is unfathomable to me.
Office products are mostly cross-platform (outlook, word, excel).
There was a subset of Google contractors trying to unionize but while the group was campaigning at city hall. Google executives decided to not renew the contract and all of them were jobless.

I wouldn’t touch a TSLA product even if it was given to me.
My $1 bid is ready to submit to ByteDance once grandpa signs that bill.
“The Matrix”, obviously.
Yet another reason to avoid Apple hardware.
I invested so much into this stupid ecosystem. Feels silly now after realizing how abusive this company is and the lengths it will go to keep you walled in.
Anything Microsoft built lately is dogshit. They turned Windows into a steaming pile of shit over the past 20 years. When you think it can’t get any worse, they somehow raise the bar on disappointment.
No doubt it will be loaded with a shit ton of tracking/telemetry to build new datasets and train LLMs. Mining data from kids/teenagers and building those ad profiles early on is key.
Repairability will likely be shit as well.
